NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
We had the opportunity to celebrate our Seniors on Thursday with our first ever LEAD Senior Picnic. Thank you to our families for all the generous contributions. I enjoyed the opportunity to put our new grill to use in preparing over 100 hamburgers and over 100 hot dogs. Most of all, I cherished seeing our seniors together, with their mentors, just enjoying connection and community. Of all the things I believe our wonderful at LEAD, the mentor/ mentee and mentee group connections that develop and grow over 4 years is at the top of the list. Thursday, as well as the days ahead are such wonderful celebrations of this community and of our individual students' accomplishments. I look forward to celebrating with families at the LEAD Senior Celebration Thursday night and of course at the commencement ceremonies on Saturday.
For all of our students, it is crunch time - please be sure to review your students progress and plans for finishing strong. Seniors must complete all work before leaving on Wednesday. For our 9th-11th grade students, we have just 2 weeks remaining. Please note that Friday the 27th is a half day for students.
SENIORS END OF YEAR BUSINESS
LEAD Summer School
Please check your email. On Thursday a very important email went out to those students and their guardians that are “off-track” in classes from this semester. If you received this email please sign your student up for LEAD’s Credit Recovery Summer School today in order to get bus transportation. If you have questions about this process, please email eisenmengers@parkhill.k12.mo.us. Also this email went out to students that are eligible for our summer school. Some students did not qualify because they have less than 50% of their work completed. If this is the case, the student will have to retake the class in the fall if the class is a graduation requirement.
Free/ Reduced Lunch Program
The program that allowed all students to receive free meals during the pandemic is ending at the end of the school year. If your student is attending summer school, they will have to pay for breakfast and lunch or bring their own food. If you believe you may qualify for Free and Reduced Meals, you must fill out an application (details attached). You may also become eligible for other benefits if you qualify for Free and Reduced Meals. For information on income requirements, please visit https://www.parkhill.k12.mo.us/families/menus-and-nutrition/free-and-reduced-meals. If you are unsure of whether you have already applied, please contact our Social Worker or the Nutrition Services Department.

Pretty amazing stuff!
GRADUATION NEWS
For families of current 12th graders, we wanted to make sure everyone has home high school graduation information. Both schools will have graduation Saturday, May 21st at Hy-Vee Arena. Here are links to newsletters with more information:
JOSTENS DELIVERIES - graduation announcements that were not picked up previously are in the front office. Any orders with an outstanding balance will need to be paid in full before picking those up.
We also wanted to provide information about the LEAD Senior Celebration. This will take place at LEAD on Thursday, May 19th from 6:30-8:00pm. Please mark your calendars – more details to come.
SENIOR WALL
At LEAD we proudly highlight and celebrate our seniors. Part of this includes displaying your students picture and future plans on our senior wall. This will be displayed for the next year school year for all of our underclassmen to walk by daily. We need for families to send in a picture of their senior along with their future plans. Future plans could include: future college the student is attending, expected major, a job they are taking after graduation, or trade school they are attending. We will then take this information and make a slide show that will be displayed on our TVs and on our big screen at lunch. Please send the picture your student would like to use along with a brief summary of their future plans to: offielda@parkhill.k12.mo.us.
FALL SPORTS OR ACTIVITY ELIGIBILITY
Students who fail more than one course this semester are automatically ineligible for fall activities.
Please contact Dr. Eisenmenger with questions (eisenmengers@parkhill.k12.mo.us)
LEADership Council Application
We are now accepting applications for next year’s LEADership Council which is similar to STUCO.
LEADership is an organization conducted by elected students and supervised by adults. The purpose of the council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out various school activities. Another major component of LEADership council is to help students at LEAD feel a sense of belonging to our school and their home high school by building community. As a group we collaborate to help improve school climate through spirit weeks and assemblies, fundraising events, educator visits, and events throughout the year. You will be asked to volunteer for several of those events outside of the school day throughout the year which include Freshmen Orientation, Registration, Middle School visit nights, Incoming LEAD Student Informational nights and LEAD Spotlight.
If you are interested in becoming a member of LEADership for the 2020-2021 school year please complete this form and get started on the process. ALL parts of the application must be completed electronically no later than Tuesday, May 17th which also includes obtaining teacher recommendations. THIS IS A HARD DEADLINE! Applicants will be chosen based on their personal commitment statements, teacher recommendations and overall character. You will be informed if you made LEADership or not the week of May 22nd. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Lee (leep@parkhill.k12.mo.us) or Ms. Jury (juryk@parkhill.k12.mo.us).
