2018-19 Building Budget Development
We are beginning our Budget Planning Process for the 2018-2019 school year. I have overviewed and linked some basic budget planning information below.
I sent and am meeting with Lead teachers to overview this year's process. They will be sending out a communication to their departments with directions and a template to use in budget requests.
Overall, we have been directed to keep our budget numbers in line with last's years amounts. Lead teachers will work with you in regards to collecting/configuring your budgetrequests/amounts. They will also be collecting any other requests beyond supplies (ex: room work requests, equipment, etc..).
Lead teachers will need this back from department members by December 15th, so it can be forwarded to me for compilation by my December 22nd deadline.
I will work with departments that do not have building lead teachers tied to them.
One of my goals is to communicate after the holiday break requests that have been approved, or denied based on the objective of our budget building process.
You can work with your lead teacher and department administrator through this process.
Budget Categories:
- Supply - classroom materials, etc.. Can be small furniture requests for your classroom (ex: chair, standing desk)
- Equipment - desks, chairs, tables, furniture, etc..
- Text - novels, Scholastic Subscriptions, non-consumable texts, etc..
- Technology - Specific hardware for a course, software, web based subscriptions, etc.. For any software requests, you must also complete the instructional tech form linked:

- B&G - I have also linked a Building and Grounds template to make sure I don´t miss any of these requests. This is for work order type of requests you may have (ex: painting, room repairs, whiteboard. chalkboard removal, etc...). Lead Teachers also can compile these as well through the budget planning template they have sent/or communicated.

Team Meetings and PLC
During the 2017-18 School Year, our Team and PLC meetings are contractual times. It is critical that we hold to these times in supporting our work as professionals to serve our students. If your agenda is light, this is a great time to organize connections with students, complete CARE Cards, review calendars for upcoming tests/projects, parent communication, or send communications to families highlighting the great work that they are doing in their class(es). PLCś should also be committed to the PLC cycle and completing the cycle (aligning curriculum, assessments, data analysis, interventions).
Per WTA Contract Language for Middle School Work Day:
d. An administrative assignment period on 2 of every 3 days, alternating between:
1. Professional Learning Community
2. Team meeting (Core teachers) or Study hall supervision (non-Core teachers)
3. For Core teachers, any time when 2 PLCs land within a single week, the 2nd PLC meeting may become a Team meeting instead
Connections and Visibility
Building Updates
- Wireless updates have begun. Workers are running new/updated wiring currently as we continue to upgrade our systems.
- We are also slated to have upgraded cameras and new cameras installed in areas of the building. This will allow us to capture video for investigating student behaviors in the stairwells and current hallway areas that are not covered.
- The Spry portion of the capital project is slated to begin during the summer of 2019.
Copier and Paper Use
As a District we have made the following number of copies through the end of October, 2017:
- 17,345,145 copies since July 1, 2016
- Equivalent to 1,455.8 trees
- Produced: 154,068 kg of CO2
- Equivalent of 9,646,444 hours running a 60W bulb
We know copies are needed for instruction, but we ask that everyone continues to do your part in reducing the amount of copying we do each day. Every little bit helps. It also helps in putting $$ back into the building budget for supplies, equipment, etc..
