Holly Academy News & Views
October 23, 2020
Most aspects of running a school in a pandemic are very challenging. However, we have discovered an unexpected benefit. We have had an increase in attendance at virtual meetings than has been the norm for in-person meetings! We had 30 participants in our Coffee & Conversation session on Wednesday, which is close to a record turnout! Thank you to all that attended. The recording of the Zoom session is available on our website and on our social media platforms. Power of the Pack!
It is hard to believe that Friday, the 30th, is the end of the first marking period! Please speak to your Husky regarding any missing assignments they may have. Friday is a half-day; teachers will be starting the report card process that afternoon. It's great to be a Husky!

Holly Academy Education Foundation
Each year, HAEF awards grants to Holly Academy teachers to enhance student learning in the classroom. This year, rather than award individual grants to teaching staff, HAEF donated that money to Holly Academy to purchase additional Chromebooks for students. On behalf of the teachers and students of HA, thank you!
The Holly Academy Education Foundation is looking for sponsors and donors for its upcoming winter fundraiser. Due to COVID-19, we are unable to have our traditional night out. Instead, we will be raffling some very exciting baskets! Specific basket information will be coming out next week. We’re asking for your help! Please tell us about businesses or families you believe might want to sponsor this event or donate items for the fundraiser. There are opportunities for sponsorship at multiple levels. Contact Monica Banks if you would like more information on ways you can sponsor and/or donate. monicabanks16@gmail.com
Calling all HVA families! Please fill out the Google Form below indicating whether your student(s) will be remaining virtual or returning to in-person learning on Monday, November 2nd. Please note the deadline is Monday at noon. Should your choice be to return to in-person learning it must be full time, we are not accepting additional students to our blended model. The survey must be completed by noon on Monday, October 26th. Power of the Pack!
Should your student not have completed their NWEA tests, it is imperative that they do so. Please be sure you are reading all emails and communications from your HVA teachers. As we approach the end of the marking period, please be aware that ALL assignments must be completed and submitted by Tuesday, October 27th.
Beginning in the second marking period, ALL elementary HVA students will transition to Google Classroom. This will replace the Odysseyware platform in all subject areas. We understand that there have been many hiccups with the Odysseyware platform on the student end. Moving to Google Classroom allows us to better align with what our face to face students are doing inside the classroom. Should you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Potteiger. potteigj@hollyacademy.org
Young 5’s through 2nd grade HVA families,
If you are receiving paper copies for your student to complete, they must be returned each week. It is incredibly important that our teachers are able to enter grades to make sure our families have the most current grade information.

Winner of the raffle
The Holly Academy Education Foundation (HAEF) is pleased to continue offering engraved commemorative brick pavers to our school community. Brick pavers are an important contribution because they are a small monument of memorabilia left for future generations to come. These pavers are the perfect way to honor individuals, friends, groups, clubs or businesses. All proceeds go directly to support HAEF as it works to expand educational opportunities for Holly Academy students.
