Husky Howler
December 17, 2021
Dear Hill-Roberts Families:
Today was a day of mixed emotions at Hill-Roberts. We were thrilled to be able to celebrate the career of our incredible secretary, Mrs. Garber, on her final day as she is retiring after 26 years of dedicated service to the students, family, and staff of South Attleboro and Hill-Roberts. We are sad to be losing such a treasured and integral part of our school but are happy for her as she moves on to her next adventure. We truly hope this is more of a "see you later" than a "goodbye."
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich, Principal
This Week In Music
This week 3rd and 4th graders are learning the connection between rhythm syllables and music notation. We did a partner activity with rhythm pattern cards, where we performed the patterns by clapping and saying the rhythmic syllables. Then we turned the card over to see the pattern, then we quizzed each other on the patterns. Next, we extended the first activity by playing a game called Rhythm Bingo, where boys and girls had to match the pattern which I clapped to the notation on their cards. Yes, there were prizes involved!
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders all learned the same song a few weeks ago, called “Trees in the Forest”. Each grade level learned at least two different instrument parts, increasing in difficulty, which we played on our xylophones and metallophones.
Some classes have also learned a new twist on a familiar movement game called “The Freeze Game”. This week and next week we will be playing “Partner Freeze Game” where students will do mirror movements with a partner. Each student has the opportunity to be both the leader and the follower during the game.

CREST Winners
During the school day, Huskies who exhibit our core values of Caring, Respect, Excellence, Safety & Trust can earn a CREST ticket from any Hill-Roberts staff member (including the bus drivers!). Each student who earns a CREST Ticket has their name placed into a drawing to earn a weekly prize that is picked by Mrs. Cotsalas. Their name is called during the morning announcements and they get their photo taken with a CREST Certificate.
