Coloma Junior High

Week of September 20th, 2021

NWEA Testing - This Week

We evaluate students 3 times a year with an online assessment called the NWEA. The test is designed to measure your child's progress throughout the year and help us to identify strengths and areas for growth.

All students will begin testing on Monday for Math in their Math classes. Students have as much time as needed to complete the assessment and may work through it over a few class periods next week. We will begin the ELA assessment on Wednesday in the ELA classes. Most students take approximately 60 minutes to complete the assessment. This is a low stakes test, in that we just want to see where your child is at so that our instruction can be targeted.

You can help your student by insuring that they get a good night's rest before coming to school and bring a charged Chromebook.

After School Study Hall - Starts Sept. 28th

Starting September 28th, the JH will be offering After School Study Hall. After School Study Hall is designed to provide a quiet place for students to:

  • Work on homework
  • Get organized
  • Receive Extra Help
  • Have reliable wifi to complete assignments

Study Hall is open from 3:10 - 4:10 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Students must have their own transportation at 4:10

Go Green Incentive

All students that had zero missing assignments as of this week were rewarded with Popsicles on Friday. Students were called down by grade level to enjoy a cool treat on a hot Friday afternoon. Be sure to keep up on assignments so that you can earn our next incentive on 10/1. Go Green! Go Comets!

Checking your Child's Grades

We celebrated our first Go Green Incentive this week for students with zero missing assignments. Students enjoyed popsicles at the end of the day. Help your child earn the next reward on October 1st.

Be sure to check their grades regularly to help keep your child organized and on top of their grades.
