NEW PARENT PICK UP PROCEDURE
Students getting picked up at the end of the day will remain in the building and gather in our Media Center.
Parents will need to park in the parking lot or in the Drop-off lane (not the Thru Lane-this has to remain open), and enter the building through our main entrance (Door #1) as the 3:25 P.M. dismissal bell rings. If your mobile phone says 3:25, it’s time to come in.
You will go straight to the Media Center (watch out for our cute Kindergarten students as you enter the media center). Students will walk to the media center vs. walking outside to wait on the sidewalk. Once you and your children have united, please exit out the main entrance (Door #1). To help increase safety for all of our students, parents will need to wait for their child(ren) in the Media Center. Do not walk down to their classroom.
Students will be organized by grade levels at tables with kindergarten students seated up front.
Here are a few of the concerns that are being addressed by this new process.
❏ Students will be accompanied by their driver as they walk through the parking lot.
❏ Surveillance video will help verify who picked up students.
❏ Students will be less exposed to weather related concerns while waiting.
MUSIC CONCERT
Third and Fourth graders as well as the McAuliffe Eagle Choir will perform a formal concert in the McAuliffe gym. To accommodate all families and friends, we will perform twice. The date and times are as follows:
Friday, February 7th:
9:30 a.m.
2:00 p.m.
Every year the students at McAuliffe prepare a performance for family and friends as a part of their music class. Students in Grades K, 1, and 2 prepare an informance. An informance is a bit less formal than a concert. It demonstrates their performance abilities while also sharing parts of the music curriculum. Informances are held in the music room.
The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, April 22:
11:25-11:55: Mrs. Whitehill
11:55-12:20: Ms. Ellson
1:10-1:35: Ms. Brandt
1:35-2:05: Mrs. Jonely
2:05-2:30: Ms. Barry
2:30-3:00: Mrs. Fischer
Thursday, April 23:
11:25-11:55: Ms. Zabel
11:55-12:20: Mrs. McNamara
1:10-1:35: Mrs. Schulte
1:35-2:05: Mrs. Hanson
2:05-2:30: Ms. Bronk
2:30-3:00: Mrs. Hunt
**Mrs. Elthon, Ms. Paulson, and Mrs. Erickson's classes split for specialists. Please contact these teachers for informance times.

McAULIFFE GEO BEE
For weeks our Geography Bee students were studying and learning more about our country and the world's geography.
A recent geography test determined that Jack D., McAuliffe; does know her facts about geography as she became the winner of the bee that took place in school on January 17th. Also to be recognized is second place winner Brianna O. and third place Grace R. Parents, grandparents and siblings were invited to watch student's hard work pay off in the final competition. Jack recently took an online test to see if he qualifies for the state level.
For the past eleven years, the fourth grade students of Hastings Elementary schools have participated in the Geo-Bee Club. The culmination of the three months of studying and discussion is a geography bee, sponsored by National Geographic.
McAuliffe teacher, Jodi Glazier, said that participation in each school's Geo-Bee Club is by invitation only and depends on a number of indicators such as test scores and interest in current events; enjoyment of looking at maps, atlases and globes; and showing interest in government and different cultures.
In Geo Bee, the students do a variety of activities to grow in their knowledge of our country and world. Each school's Geo-Bee Club meets after school for enrichment purposes. The kids are excited to have this opportunity to learn and grow beyond their normal school day.
