ACE Marathon

On Saturday, March 12, mixed in with 23,000 runners were 50 teachers, supporters, and a priest running in support of Saint Matthias! Ms. Surat and Mrs. Greer ran the full marathon and Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Richards ran the 5K. The annual Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) marathon brings ACE teachers and supporters from across the country to one location to support an ACE school. This year, thanks to the leadership of Elizabeth Surat and the ACE DC house, Saint Matthias received over $10,000 in support of technology upgrades.

The weekend of activities kicked off with a prayer service, blessing of running shoes and a reception at the school on Friday.

Pi Day

Monday was Pi Day! In our middle school, students worked to measure circumference and diameter to show the power of pi. Of course, they finished it off by eating some pi(e)!

Thank you to the parent chaperones who made this trip possible.

Third Grade Tulip Project

The tulips have emerged! Our 3rd graders planted tulip bulbs as a part of the Journey North Tulip Test Garden project. They have tracked temperature and soon will measure the growth of their plants. Science and math and hands on learning fun! You can track their reports on http://www.learner.org/jnor…/maps/record_tulip_emerged.html…
