Free Lunches for All Students for the Rest of 2020!
The USDA issued an announcement on August 31, 2020 that all school children will be eligible to receive free meals from September 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Effective immediately, then, your child(ren) will be able to receive all of their meals served at school for FREE, regardless of whether they are attending in-school or participating in eLearning from home!
E-learning families will be able to pick up two (2) days’ worth of meals at St. Ann every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In addition, you can pick up meals for your children at home ages 2 years to 18 years … even those not enrolled in the school. Meal entrees that need to be heated at home will include heating instructions inside each of the individual two day meal boxes. All meals include a carton of milk.
For the week of September 7-11, we will order meals for every student attending school in the building. You can then decide if your student(s) would like to opt out moving forward. So as not to waste meals, we ask that e-learning families please opt in by indicating their choice on this form. If you have no desire to drive to the school three times a week to pick up meals, please opt out so that food does not go to waste. You can change your mind at a later date, but we really do not want to have to throw away food, so please indicate your choice by Sunday, September 6.
Orders for the second menu choice will be converted to the primary menu choice for students who have ordered that option for those first two weeks unless we hear differently. Also, the printed menu initially may be subject to change should quantities increase significantly as a result of this last minute benefit provided by the USDA.
You do not need to complete an application for free or reduced price meals at this time. We will provide guidance at a later date to inform you if or when applications for meal benefits will need to be completed.
All parents/students who paid for meals served and/or ordered after September 1, 2020 will have a credit in their account, or you may contact the food service staff at your school regarding obtaining a refund.
Chromebook Accessories
All students should have headphones or earbuds in school every day. These were on the school supply lists and are necessary equipment to have.
It would be a good idea to also bring in the Chromebook chargers. While Chromebooks should be fully charged upon arrival every day, depending on how much they are used in the classroom, they may need a little re-charge on any given day.
Study Buddies
Congratulations to our newly elected Student Council Executive Board:
Gianna Hillegonds, Ava DeMay, Natalie Gray, Jayda Caver, and Miley Podgorski
Let's wish them all well as they lead the school under some very strange circumstances!
5th-8th Grade Class Representatives will be chosen next week.
Drop Off/Pickup Reminders
- It is never okay to drop anyone off on Ridge Road in the morning.
- Should you arrive later than 7:50, please deliver your child to the Main School Office door, C1. All other doors will be locked and unattended after that time.
- It is never okay to pick up in the teacher's lot or anywhere on Chicago Avenue. No student will be released to anyone who is not following protocols in our main lot. Our dismissal procedure does not take very long. Please follow the rules for everyone's safety.
- All children who remain once the lot has emptied will be brought to the Extended Day room. You may pick them up from the small staff lot behind the Parish Office.
There's Still Time to Get Your Uniforms!
We will begin wearing formal uniforms on September 14. Full dress code is available to download and print here. Our uniform vendor is Dennis Uniform, 8345 Indianapolis Boulevard, Highland, IN. You may order from their website, school code GANNH, or call ahead for curbside pickup, 219-838-7120. The gray polos that were missing from the website are now available. We do have some pieces available in our Used Uniform Shoppe for $5 each. Call the school office to inquire.
We are excited to once again participate in the Apples for the Students program through our local Strack & VanTil store! Last year, we accumulated enough points to purchase cameras and video equipment. Please ask everyone you know to save their Strack's receipts from September 1 - March 1, and have your child bring them in to school. We will have collection envelopes in every classroom. Thank you!
Student Desks/Chairs for Home Use
We still have extra student desks and chairs to lend if you would like to use them for your children's "school away from school." They are compact and have a nice storage area for keeping home classrooms neat and supplies handy. If you are interested, please fill out the form at this link, and we will contact you to arrange a pickup time. Not just for the e-learners, but also for any SAS student who would like to set up a homework area!
Note: If you already spoke up for one and missed your pickup, please contact the office to make another appointment--thank you!
