From the Principal's Pen
October 5, 2018
You are cordially invited to attend the Julian Curtiss Magnet School’s annual OPEN HOUSE meeting on Thursday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Open House gives you the opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, meet teachers, and receive important information about the instructional program. Open House is really the beginning of the relationship between home and school and it is important for parents to attend! Since the purpose of the Open House is to give general information to ALL parents, teachers will not be able to answer specific questions about your child’s progress. Such individual questions are best handled at parent/teacher conferences, which are scheduled for December, or another date, which you can arrange with the teacher. We really would love to have full attendance of our families this year. We will be providing babysitting for those families that need it. Due to limited space we ask that you use the babysitting service only if you are unable to make other arrangements.
The schedule for Open House is as follows:
6:30 -7:00 p.m. Visits to P.E., Art, Music, Library Learning Commons, ESL, World Languages, Reading, Resource Rooms, and other Special Education staff.
Classroom teachers (Homerooms) will not be available until 7:00 pm. Rooms will be closed until that time. Specialists and Essentialists can also be visited at during the hours below.
7:00 -7:30 p.m. Grades K, 1, and 2 classroom visits; ESL and ALP for grades 3, 4, and 5
7:35 -8:05 p.m. Grades 3, 4 and 5 classroom visits; ALP and ESL for grades K, 1, and 2
There will be refreshments in the cafe throughout the evening provided by the PTA.
We hope that you will join us at Julian Curtiss on October 11th.

Please click on the link below to print out the RSVP form and return to your child's classroom teacher no later than Tuesday, October 10th.
Each night in the United States, an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This October, we want to show that even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless.
During the month of October, the Julian Curtiss Service Club will be collecting new socks of all sizes (infant, child, and adult) to be given to local homeless shelters.
There will be a collection box at the end of the front hallway outside the gym.
Tell your friends and family - every pair helps!
