TALENT SHOW INFORMATION!

Each year at Finger Lake we have a talent show movie, which will be shown to classes the last week of school.

What is a talent? Something you can do that is awesome! In past years some students have submitted videos of: ice skating, basketball, skiing, art, playing the piano, singing, telling jokes, magic tricks, hockey, martial arts, dance, gymnastics, skits, wrestling, things they have built etc.

All talents need to be appropriate for school!

1. Get your parent or guardian’s permission to participate

2. Demonstrate your talent

Practice and prepare before you record

Record your talent (video needs to be 10GB or less to submit)

Submit a video or picture of your talent

3. Special guidelines for singing

Sing only one verse and the chorus once

Sing with an instrument, or with a backing track

No lip-sync or singing with a recording

Song lyrics need to be appropriate for school

4. Videos may be edited for length or content

Submissions are due: Monday, May 2nd. You will need a gmail account to upload your video.

This form will collect your email so you can upload to my school Google Drive. It also allows me to contact you if there is a problem with the video.

Questions? Email Mr. H at garth.hangartner@matsuk12.us or students can ask me at school.

Bikes for Books runs April 8th through May 6th!

Finger Lake Elementary’s Bikes for Books reading competition starts Monday, April 11th and continues through Friday, May 6th! There are a few different ways for students to earn some prizes, as outlined below:

  • All classrooms who have at least 75% of student participation will earn a classwide celebration!

  • Students who complete at least 320 minutes will earn a popsicle or ice cream sandwich AND be entered to win a new book!

  • Students who read 400 minutes earn a popsicle or ice cream sandwich, will be entered to win a new book, AND will be entered for a chance to win one of four bikes! There will be 2 winners at Pre-K-2nd and 2 winners at 3rd-5th!

If you lose your reading log, no problem! You can find both documents attached in the electronic newsletter sent out on April 8th or have your student stop by the office for a new copy.

Students should bring their reading logs to school once they are completed or as requested by their classroom teacher. Please make sure your student's first & last name and their teacher's name is on their reading log. Some teachers may ask that the logs be returned each week, while others may ask the logs stay home until they are complete. ALL reading logs are due on Friday, May 6th to ensure all names are entered correctly for the drawing if they have met the 400 minute mark. We will have a PreK-2nd grade assembly and a 3rd-5th grade assembly on Thursday, May 12th, to celebrate our students and draw names for the bikes! If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or call the office, (907) 864-2200. Thank you for participating in this fun reading challenge!

Respectfully,

Your Finger Lake Staff

Falcon Feathers!

Students can earn Falcon Feathers from any staff member or classmate in the building! These serve as recognition of students showing H.E.A.R.T., and they are proudly displayed in our front lobby for the entire month! Encourage your student to recognize when they are showing H.E.A.R.T. and when they see it in others!
