Almost Spring Break...

Hello, Band Parents and Students!


We are now a few SHORT days away from Spring Break. Once again, we have a VERY BUSY week, so please make sure to read through the following update carefully.


SCHEDULE FOR WEEK OF MARCH 21st


Monday, March 21st

- 7th Grade Band will rehearse at 7:25 AM

- ALL 8th graders have lessons today!!!

- 7th graders have lessons and US GRAND FINALE PERFORMANCE today


Tuesday, March 22nd

- 8th Grade Band will rehearse at 7:25 AM

- 7th graders have lessons and US GRAND FINALE PERFORMANCE today


Wednesday, March 23rd

- 7th Grade Band will rehearse at 7:25 AM

- ALL 6th graders have lessons and RHAPSODY IN BLUE PERFORMANCE today

- Jazz Band will rehearse from 3-4 PM


Thursday, March 24th

- 6th Grade Band will rehearse at 7:25 AM

- 6th graders perform at 5th Grade Transitions today - COME TO SCHOOL IN UNIFORM!


Friday, March 25th

- Spring Break!!! No School!!!

8th Grade Lessons for Monday, March 21

8:30 AM - All woodwinds

9:00 AM - All brass

9:30 AM - All percussion

10:00 AM - Beginning flute/trumpet

7th Grade: International Music Tour

After our final stop in France last week, students FINALLY returned home to the good USA this week, where we learned how to count in cut-time AND about our favorite march composer, John Philip Sousa. Students will be performing their FINAL excerpt in lessons next week and will be doing a review to prepare us for our culminating activity.



Speaking of, please make sure to review the International Music Tour final information above! Parents are WELCOMED and ENCOURAGED to attend our International Tour finale on April 12th! We'd love to have you see what we've been working on!!!


Please remember that students should be practicing their excerpts each week with a metronome - these performance assessments do contribute to each students' grade. Students who miss a lesson, without consulting me prior to or the day of, will receive a 0 for their performance assessment. If a student misses a lesson, they are responsible for learning the piece for their next lesson!


PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT THIS WEEK:

- US Grand Finale at 85 bpm

6th Grade: Travel through Time

Students have finally returned to the modern period with our final visit to Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue"! Students will be performing their FINAL excerpt in lessons next week and will be doing a review to prepare us for our culminating activity.

We will be auditioning for the Springman Variety Show on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18th at 3:00 PM. Rehearsal will end early that day! Be prepared to dance next week...

On Friday, May 27th we will be taking an ALL DAY FIELD TRIP to Tilt Studio at Rink Side Sports to celebrate all of our Band, Orchestra, and Chorus students' hard work this year! Check out all they have to offer HERE!


We'll be sharing more info soon, but in the meantime, please remember:


  • Students MUST have an A or B in their respective ensemble(s) to be eligible for the trip
  • Regular Team Teachers will be providing feedback on students' behavior throughout Trimester 3
