The Manning Monday Minute
August 22, 2022

Principal's Message
We have had a fantastic start to the school year! Our students are already demonstrating that they are hard working, respectful young adults. They are a joy to work with!
We are sending our parent newsletter out on Mondays this year - a change we made after receiving some feedback that Mondays might be better for parents instead of Fridays.
We've had meetings this week with each grade level to explain expectations and procedures for the school-year. Of course, our students were engaged and attentive in these meetings.
We are hoping to see all of you at Back to School Night next week. You will follow your child's schedule and then have time to socialize and visit food trucks! Details regarding this event are below.
Please follow our traffic protocols for drop-off and pick-up. Obviously, it's a challenge getting so many people through our parking lot, so please follow the rules, and be patient. Carpools are a great option. Please remember to pull all the way up in the car line. Also, please remind your kids to "look both ways" as they walk through the parking lot.
We had our first Fire Drill this week, and it went very well. Our students did a great job of following directions and staying quiet during the drill. We have emphasized the importance of safety at our school to all of our students. I reminded them to tell an adult if they ever see or hear anything that might be a safety concern.
Some reminders and changes:
Achievement - this is similar to a "study hall." Students with a failing grade in any class will have to attend Achievement, on Fridays in the LMC from 2:25 to 3:25 pm. Parents will be notified if their child is assigned to attend. Achievement will begin on Sept. 9.
Detention - this will be on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in Mrs. Geer's or Mrs. Cahill's classroom. Parents will be notified if their child has to attend detention.
Access - this is from 2:55 to 3:25 pm Monday thru Thursday. Students will have time to finish school-work, visit another teacher's class for help, or read.
Thanks for a great first week and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Mike Collins, Principal

Memo from Jeffco’s Health Services Team
We will no longer be posting school-level COVID-19 case numbers and we encourage parents and staff to refer to the CDC's COVID-19 Community Level tool to help determine personal prevention measures for themselves and their family. Should the CDC COVID-19 Community Level be raised to level RED, Jeffco Public Schools will continue to work with Jefferson County Public Health and CDPHE regarding any potential updates to our protocols and guidelines.
Positive Test = Isolate at home for 5 days; may return to school days 6-10 with masking strongly recommended.
Return to school only if fever free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication, and if symptoms are improving.
