What are we Learning?
Reading - We are continuing our science/reading unit on "Earth's Surface". We will continue to read in order to find the main idea and details, learn from our reading, review text features, and understand new vocabulary words. This week we will be reading about volcanoes, glaciers, and erosion.
Phonics/Spelling - Unit 14: The /ou/ sound spelled -ou and - ow.
Please work on the phonics homework with your child. It definitely helps them when we take our Unit tests.

Writing - In Poetry, we will learn to write different types of poems. This may include theme poems, shape poems, list and conversation poems. We hope to celebrate Poetry Month by reflecting on all of our poems these past few weeks.
Math -We will begin Unit 5 for math, "Shapes & Partitioning". We are reviewing the attributes we learned last week. We hope to do some fun shape projects in order to help us review. We will take the first part of our math Unit 5 assessment. I've listed some helpful IXL topics below. Students should be able to name and identify shapes for this portion of the unit.
IXL Topics:
2nd Grade, Geometry T1 - T7
Science- We were quite successful in keeping our weather logs last week! This week, we will learn about the different forms of precipitation and review the water cycle process.
