Diane Warshay crisscrosses the country looking for the next great American Spirit: a hand-crafted Whiskey in Tennessee, an organic Vodka in Missouri, a pineapple & jalapeno infused Tequila in New Mexico, a honey-flavored Bourbon in Georgia, a pomegranate Champagne in Napa, a chai-flavored Rum in Miami, a cucumber & mint Gin in Brooklyn, a chocolate & bacon stout Beer in Boston.


Each week, Diane meets with an alcohol, wine or beer entrepreneur and “kicks the tires” of each local Distillery, Brewery or Vineyard. She goes over their formula, taste, manufacturing, branding, marketing, financing and distribution strategies with a fine-tooth comb, using her years of experience as one of the leading Investment Bankers and Advisors to the Alcohol & Spirits Industry.


Diane does her due diligence from the bottom up. Her “take no prisoners” attitude and "tough love" approach is exhilarating to watch. She holds back no punches and pushes these entrepreneurs to their outer limits. Each entrepreneur is competing for her advice, cash and connections. But at the end of the day, Diane loves nothing more than raising her glass and toasting to the future success of these exciting and visionary new entrepreneurs and spirits.


Along the way, there will be local taste tests and industry experts weighing in. At the end of each episode, Diane will decide if the entrepreneur deserves her advice, cash and connections. Food & Wine celebrities from the Food Network’s various shows could help Diane in making her decision. The entrepreneur with the winning formula for success will receive growth capital, a celebrity endorsement deal, and national distribution for their product.


Alternatively, the Spirit Hunter can be a competition/elimination format. During each episode, Diane meets with 3 entrepreneurs all vying for her advice, cash and connections. They must compete and perform drills focused on taste, branding, marketing, and distribution. For example, they must develop a new drink with a leading mixologist, prepare a cocktail to go with a world-class chef’s meal, develop a new product line using their alcohol such as a bourbon infused candy, whiskey-dyed blue jeans, vodka-flavored ice cream. The entrepreneur with the winning formula for success will receive growth capital, a celebrity endorsement deal, and national distribution for their product.
