Who is Al Capone?
Al Capone was a criminal and considered by many as, public enemy #1. He killed hundreds of people and yet he was sent to prison for tax evasion and not for murder.

Al Capone as a boy
Al Capone was born on January 17, 1899. When he was a little boy he lived in Brooklyn, New York, where kids would make trouble all the time. Capone started hanging out with some of the little gangs and was considered a kind of hero. He saw a gang of local kids stealing a washboard from an elderly woman. Capone organized a group of kids to get it back. He beat up the kids who took it and gave it back to the lady. He then had a parade to play the hero in the event. Capone was kicked out of school at age 14 for hitting a teacher. He never returned to school.
Al Capone the mob boss gangster
Al Capone was #1 in the bootlegging business and was known for bribing people. Having control of his mob is what kept him out of jail for so long. He hired people to kill for him and then went out of town. The police were never able to pin any murders on Al Capone.
He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and sent to a state prison. From there, he went to Alcatraz on tax evasion charges.
life in and after prison
Capone was suppose to serve 11 years in the state prison. He was moved to Alcatraz after decorating his cell in prison and not following rules. Later only having served half his sentence due to good behavior and poor health, he was released from Alcatraz. He lived out the rest of his life in his Florida palace with his wife and his son. Capone died on January 25, 1947
