Numeracy Lessons in KI

Here are some photos of students engaged in Numeracy.

What does Numeracy look like in our classroom?

Numeracy is taught daily in KI. We have a daily focus on skills including numeral identification, counting forwards and backwards and learning numbers before and after. The students practise many of these skills through singing engaging songs. This term we have also been focusing on skip counting by 10s and 100s.

This term's teaching has been focused on multiplication and division, addition and subtraction strategies, length, time and position. We have also been focusing more on understanding and solving mathematical word problems and recording our thinking. Most of our recording is done on mini-whiteboards. Problem solving will be a continued focus in Term 4.
