....and the GISD SEL School of Excellence GOLD Standard Award goes to...
Park Crest Elementary!
by Grace..
We received this award because I saw the extra mile that many teachers have gone to provide a safe learning environment for their students - with humor, smiles, sweat, and even tears. This has been an exceptionally difficult year for all of us, yet I have seen teachers and staff who have managed to still check in on one another and make sure we’re all ok. They have taken care of each other, themselves, AND their students - not only academically but social-emotionally as well.
I was thinking we could maybe earn the bronze, so I turned in an application. We won the gold! Yay for us!
Here is the application I submitted:
Here Comes Boot Camp!
Whole school challenges - I'm going to come around and see if everyone in the grade level met their goal by looking at your posters - if everyone did I'll color in a green box, if not the box will be colored in blue. If we hit 75% of our boxes being colored in we'll celebrate!

Formal TTESS Walkthroughs/Summative Conferences
The deadline for summative evaluations is May 14th.
Summative ratings will be comprehensive; they will include: the 45 minute observation, the fall and spring TTESS walkthrough observations and classroom walkthroughs. The summative ratings are the ratings that will be used for TIA purposes.
You will need to complete two things prior to this appointment for your summative: (1) respond to the reflective questions and (2) mark goals as complete if completed and attach evidence demonstrating how you accomplished your goals this year. If they are not completed, leave as is and they can be carried over to next year. https://eduphoria.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115011951447-Life-of-Professional-Goals-in-Strive (Start at step 6)
The questions for both your professional and student goal are:
1. Identify the evidence of goal attainment/progress including the impact on student achievement.
2. Identify the professional development participation connections for this goal.
3. Describe how you used this goal and the professional development above to impact instruction and student achievement.
4. What if anything, would you have done differently? How will you extend this goal/learning?
After you answer the questions you will click SUBMIT to APPRAISER button on the menu bar.
Once you have completed these tasks please email us letting us know. Tasks are due at least 24 hours prior to our conference. If not submitted before that time your conference will be rescheduled.
Please bring your Chromebook to our meeting.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Background Knowledge
Thoughts from Reading Academy:
Background knowledge is an important piece of visualizing. If you ask children to close their eyes and visualize a family eating dinner, each child is going to use her or his background knowledge to create that visualization. Everyone has a different interpretation of what family dinner looks like according to his or her personal experiences. Therefore, the visualizations will vary. Each student reads the same text on the page but constructs a mental image unique to their lives. This variation is important to explore and discuss.
ENotes from Esther
1069's for April are due 5/7/2021, and the May 1069's will be due on May 21st please be sure to have this completed on time as I will need to have them printed and filed by May 25th.
Please be sure to have students complete their Monthly I-station test, this data is used to complete their 1069's and the I-station report will be put in their Cum Folders.
Thank you to everyone that has reached out to students to get signed up for MAP testing. Please encourage your remote students to signup for testing if they have not already (the EOY MAP Schedule shows who has signed up and their testing date/time). Please ask them to arrive promptly at 8:15 and 12:15 to ensure they have enough time to finish.

I have already heard back from most teachers confirming your MAP Accommodations as listed on the EOY MAP Schedule, but if you have not please look at it and let me know if any adjustments need to be made. The accommodations given are also listed on each teacher's tab.
