AA Similarity
AA similarity states that if two angles in one triangle are congruent to two angles in another triangle, the two triangles are similar. Both triangles have right angles. The flagpole and the ground meet at a right angle as well as the person and the ground, therefore both triangles are congruent by AA similarity. The mirror provides congruent angle pairs because of the reflection and the fact that it is placed flat on the ground.
Pencil/Person Technique
The Pencil/Person Technique is when a person stands a distance away and measures another person by the flag pole with the pencil. Then he or she raises the pencil until he or she gets to the top of the flagpole and then multiply it by the person's height. While using this technique, the flagpole was 32 feet.
