COVID Guidelines
Dear Paddock Families,
I am so excited for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. I loved seeing so many students and families having fun and eating Kona Ice at the playdate events last week. I know that this school year is going to be amazing.
As Dr. Heinz discussed at the board meeting last week, there will still be some COVID guidance in place for families and schools this year. Below, I have outlined the universal guidelines and how they will look at Paddock school. We have put these systems in place to allow as much normalcy as possible to start the school year while still mitigating risk to support our students' health. As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Masks
- All students, staff, and visitors must wear masks when entering the school building.
- Students will not need to wear masks while outside or at recess.
- Students are allowed mask breaks throughout the day as scheduled by the teacher.
Classroom
- In the classroom, all students will have at least 3 feet of distance between them while in desks or in small groups.
- Adhering to these social distancing guidelines, to the greatest extent possible, will limit the amount of students identified as close contacts.
- Students can share items in the classroom, art, PE, music and recess.
- Students are able to use their cubbies to hang coats, store backpacks, etc.
- Students will not be able to eat snack in the classroom..
Lunch
- When eating lunch, classrooms will be split to have about half of the class eating in the cafeteria and the rest in the classroom.
- In doing this, we can assure 6 feet of distance between students when eating unmasked, which is the current distancing recommendation.
Breakfast
- Students will eat breakfast, 6 feet apart, in the cafeteria.
- If there are more students needing breakfast than can fit 6 feet apart in the cafeteria, these students will eat breakfast in the classroom, appropriately distanced.
Recess
- Students will be sectioned into "zones" with their own class during recess
- The playground is able to be used by students in that zone.
- Recess equipment can be shared among students.
Concurrent Learning
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to offer concurrent learning to our in-person students if they have been directed to quarantine due to being deemed a close contact to a positive individual or to go into isolation due to testing positive for COVID-19.
- We will ONLY allow students who have medical documentation or have been directed by the school nurse and approved by the building principal to quarantine or isolate.
- Students that have been directed to quarantine and approved to participate in concurrent learning for a specified period of time will be given a device and a link to the Google Meet to participate in learning.
- Students on vacation, out of the country, or home ill with any other illness will NOT be allowed to participate in concurrent learning.
Sincerely-
Jason Christ
Principal
Meet The Teacher
To reduce the amount of congestion in hallways, we are asking the 3rd-6th grade families enter the building through the front doors (door 1) and that K-2nd grade families enter through the bus loop doors (door 4). Additionally, to limit classroom congestion, we ask that families try to avoid lingering and talking with friends, for an extended period of time in teachers' classrooms, and, instead, converse in the hallways or outside. In doing this, it is our hope that we can keep everyone as safe as possible while still allowing for an enjoyable event.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
Students will enter and exit the building at the following locations based on grade level:
Door 1: Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade car riders and walkers
Door 3: Bilingual Kindergarten, Bilingual 1st grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade bus riders
Door 4: Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade bus riders
Door 12: 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade car riders and walkers
When dropping off or picking up your student, please remember to:
- Stay in your car
- Have your student exit and enter the car on the passenger side
- Pull up as far as you can
- Stay in line with the other cars. Do not try and pull around someone
- (Pick up only) Scan the QR code sign to fill out a form to let us know you are here. We will send your child out at that time.
Following these procedures will help to keep our students safe and traffic moving.

Join The Paddock PTA!!
Paddock's PTA is an organization of families and teachers working together to provide an enriching learning environment for our students and a welcoming community for our families. Your PTA membership is used to host school activities, student programs, and school assemblies. It helps our families connect with each other, know what’s happening at Paddock, give parents opportunities to volunteer and provide support to our teachers. The more members our PTA has, the more good we can do.
