Greetings Colleagues:
It is with great pleasure that I announce that Sean Dougherty is joining Oakland Schools to fill our open grant-funded position in District and School Services as the LSI- Guidance and Counseling Consultant. His first day is March 11th.
Sean joins us from Huron Valley with 11 years of experience. He is well established in the field of counseling within his own district, Oakland County and state-wide . He has proven himself to be a leader of counseling practices for both his colleagues across the county and across the State. Sean shares his expertise with graduate students at Eastern Michigan University. His insights into the guidance and counseling systems will be a valuable resource to our schools and districts.
If you see Sean around the building, please make sure you welcome him to Oakland Schools!

I am very pleased to announce that Sarah Struzik (currently Special Education Administrator in Ferndale) has been offered and accepted the role of Supervisor for the SP Capacity Building unit. I look forward to working with Sarah as we continue making a difference for the students of Oakland County.
Sarah will join us on March 18, 2019!
Connect.Learn.Transform Book Drive
The Oakland Schools Connect.Learn.Transform task force invites all Oakland Schools employees to donate new and like new books for our Summer Pop-Up Literacy Lab. Equity is the CIP goal focus for Connect.Learn.Transform. 2019, and we are looking to provide equity
in access to books through a book drive.
Who attends the Summer Pop-Up Literacy Lab? What does the Lab consist of?
Pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade students attend Literacy Lab events with their families. The Pop-Up Lab events have weekly themes and include a read-aloud story, science lab, STEM station, and Maker’s crafts. Each Pop-Up concludes with a “little free book fair” so that every child can enhance their home library.
What books would be appropriate to donate?
● Like new books appropriate for pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade students
● Picture books and chapter books
● Like-new books that are appropriate for older readers are also welcome
I can’t wait to bring in some books. When can I start? Where do I place them?
Now through the end of March! Book collection boxes will be located on each Office Side floor, as well as in the Atrium.
I want to help, but I don’t have any books at home to donate. What can I do?
We compiled a list of top-notch books through Scholastic. Please use this link Scholastic.com/OaklandSchoolsISD .
Reach out to the following members of the CLT Team: Andrea Zellner (DSS), Jenelle Williams (DSS), and Ashelin Currie (DSS) with any questions.
