SVVSD Virtual Choir
Hello LEE Families!
I'm really excited to share a project with you all that will be an epic collaboration between the SVVSD Fine Arts office, the Education Foundation, District Communications, and the district music classes!
Each year, The Education Foundation hosts a gala which brings together business partners and community members to raise money for our teachers and students. They typically have one school ensemble perform. Because of the switch to virtual this year, this is a perfect opportunity to showcase students from EVERY school, not just one! :)
We have picked a great song that will fit elementary, middle and high school voices. It is a mashup of "Brave" and "True Colors" called "Truly Brave".
If your child is interested:
· Please contact Mrs. Johnson ASAP ~ johnson_camilla@svvsd.org
· The deadline for video submissions is October 15th.
Can't wait for you all to see the final product!
LEE Autumnal Appreciation

We hope everyone is doing well and excited to see the leaves starting to turn. In anticipation of a new season and to show our teachers and staff that we appreciate everything they do-especially during times like these-we wanted to show our support in the form of fall treats!
Please review the available slots here.
*Donation(s) should be dropped off in the labeled bin outside of the front office on Tuesday, September 22nd between 8:45-9:00 am
Thank you!
Warmly,
LEE PTO
Gifted and Talented Nominations
Each year St. Vrain Valley School District completes a process to identify students in grades K-12 who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic or talent areas and may therefore qualify for Gifted and Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s) and require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
The search for gifted/talented students begins with an opportunity for parents and/or teachers to refer students for review. Once referrals are received, a team of educator’s review student state testing data, standardized test scores, rating scales and other school data to determine student eligibility. Nomination does not automatically guarantee additional GT testing but this will be determined by the review school data. Please note: if additional testing is determined for a K-2 student, this testing will be administered during the spring semester.
If you believe that your child qualifies and would benefit from district Gifted/Talented services, please use the following link to the district nomination form. We ask that you consider the child’s top TWO strength areas when completing this nomination.
Thank you.

Mrs. Shaffer’s STEM Update
Greetings! This week I’ve been celebrating International Dot Day with students, based on the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Students were given the challenge to create 9 or 12 different things out of the dots they were given. It’s a fun way to work on our creativity skills! Next week we will be doing a Mystery Science lesson on what it takes to be a great inventor. An activity called “Bobby Dropper” will be described to students if they’d like to try it at home. It will be available in the STEM folders in their Seesaw and Schoology classes. All of the projects I put out to students are voluntary, but I love seeing the variety of things they come up with when we share together as a class.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

100 Mile Club
Hello Longmont Estates Elementary School families!
This year, even while we’re affected by changes at our school, we want to remain active and connected through 100 Mile Club! 100 Mile Club has created a way for families to participate from home and to order the incentive packages directly through them! Below you will find the link for the enrollment form, along with incentive package options and links/QR code for registration.
A separate registration should be completed for each student from your family at the school.
In addition, we encourage family members to join! We have a special discounted rate of $10 for any family member who joins at this time (normally $20).
Upon registration, you’ll receive a tracking sheet to begin monitoring your progress. Plus, we’ll be following up with additional information and ideas for doing 100 Mile Club TO GO! throughout the year. We will also celebrate successes, recognize milestones and encouragement through regular emails from Mr. Newell. It is important to understand that 100 Mile Club will be administered in this virtual format for the duration of the 2020-2021 school year.
Note: Shipping charges apply as the order will be delivered directly to you! Shipping will begin in mid-September, but start tracking your miles NOW!
