Dear JUHSD Community,

This week marks the one year anniversary since we abruptly closed schools due to COVID-19. As we reach this anniversary, we are relieved to see San Mateo County moving into the orange tier as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to decrease. We are not yet out of this pandemic, so please continue to practice social distancing and wear a mask.

This week also brought the shocking news of another series of senseless, violent attacks on the Asian American community. I am deeply saddened by these events and want to remind us that we must come together as a community to support each other. Please take a moment to read my message to the community.

As we work towards community safety and healing, I have three news items to share with you:

  1. Board Meeting Highlights: Please view highlights from the last Board of Trustees meeting, including important information about the draft Hybrid Model.
  2. COVID-19 and Return to School Updates: We have recently expanded the information on our website to include campus reopening plans, COVID cases by city, and guidelines & protocols for safety. Please visit our COVID-19 and Return to Campus Updates page here.
  3. Beach Bites Bingo: The City of Pacifica has started a fun, new game to encourage patronage at Pacifica restaurants and coffee shops. Learn more here.

Thank you for continuing to support your students as we make our way through these unprecedented times. Have a nice weekend, and as always … my door is open.

Warmly,

Toni Presta
