PJH Band Concert

On October 28th the junior high Band performed in their fall concert.. This year, the concert was held in the junior high gym. The students were excited to play in front of family and friends. This was a great opportunity for our students to demonstrate their musical talents. Mr. Conyers and Mr. Shafer do a great job with our students.

PJH BAND ALL-REGION AUDITTIONS NOVEMBER 15TH

This competition pits the best students on their particular instruments in the area in an individual-based competition where they perform music that was prepared for a panel of judges. After judges hear every performer, they will rank the students in ability. The top students in each section are selected to perform in the All-Region Band.

UNT High School Career Connect

Ponder Junior High is excited to renew our partnership with UNT and the High School Career Connect program. HSCC works with our students for in-person career presentations and mentoring of our comprehensive, easy-to-navigate website, with tailor-made presentations to support your students’ college and career readiness. UNT mentors educate students on career trends as they relate to interests and skills, endorsement choices, course selection, and continued educational options appropriate to individual college/career goals.

UNT mentors will be working with our 8th grade students each Wednesday as our students prepare for high school, college, and/or careers.

PJH One Act Play

The One Act Play will conduct a practice performance of the play, The Great Pandemonium, on Friday, November 18th. The performance will take place in the Ponder Junior High cafeteria. These students and their coach have worked extremely hard to prepare for the UIL One Act Play competition - which will take place at Princeton High School on December 10th.

PJH Athletics

Football wrapped up their season vs. Whitesboro on Thursday, November 3rd.

We are extremely proud of how our student athletes represented Ponder JH on and off the field. There are many life lessons learned through sports and these athletes faced many challenges though-out their season. Our Lions "never quit" attitude will serve them well.

Volleyball Teams Finish on a Positive Note

Our 7th grade volleyball lost in the first round to a tough Callisburg team but finished strong as Champions of the Consolation bracket. The 8th grade team made it to the championship game against Boyd, but fell short. Congratulations on a great season.

Basketball

Both JH boys and girls teams have kicked off the basketball season. The Lady Lions will start their season November 14th, on the road against the Valley View Eagles. While our Lions will open the season at home the same day against Valley View. First tip is scheduled for 4:30.

I would like to thank all of our families for their continued support of our student athletes.
