Inspiring Tomorrow's Innovators, Today!

Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
Twenty years ago this weekend, our country was attacked by senseless acts of terrorism. Although our students today were not born during those tragic events, many of our parents and grandparents will remember exactly where they were during that time. It was a day that changed our way of life forever. This weekend, we pause to remember all those affected by the tragic events of that day. In addition, we are grateful for the men and women who serve to protect us on a daily basis. Thank you to our first responders, military personnel, and veterans for the daily sacrifices.
The first four weeks have ended and the first PROGRESS report of the first semester is available. If you haven't already, please log into your Skyward account and check your student's grades and attendance. Anyone participating in sports and/or extracurricular activities should be keeping an eye on their grades. Be sure to reach out to your teachers NOW for tutoring and extra help. Don't wait until the end of the grading period when it's too late! Be proactive!
DATA students are leaders on-campus and I want to encourage our leaders to set good examples for others. Please be sure you follow the dress code, use good language when communicating with others, and don't give in to the Tik Tok fads that are circulating among teens today that encourage more work for others. Although we want to encourage fun at school, there also must be some rules and guidelines to help ensure safety. It is NOT acceptable to: leave campus for lunch (TR is a closed campus), engage in fights, steal items from around the campus for photo ops, and protest that students should be able to wear clothes to show their midriffs at school. Thank you for being leaders that set good examples for others.
Please review the many details included below. If you have specific questions, please reach out so we can assist with those items. Have a wonderful week and please continue to stay safe.

AP testing information and other important AP course details
If you are taking an AP (Advanced Placement) course, we strongly encourage you to challenge the AP exam for that course. Taking an AP exam and earning credit for the college course can save you tons on tuition in college. Below are some important details and reminders for you about AP testing and AP exam preparation.
AP Testing Information for this Year
- AP exams will all be given on paper, on-campus this year (certain foreign language exams will be done on computer again but still administered on campus only).
- There will only be one administration window (May 2-13, 2022) and one makeup window (May 17-20, 2022).
- October 1, 2021, is the fall registration deadline for AP exams. This is completed in AP Classroom. November 3, 2021 is the Fall payment deadline for the 2022 AP exams (completed by credit card through Skyward Student Portal or by cash through the Counseling/CCMR specialist office). There will be a Spring registration with Spring payments due in March before we leave for Spring Break. The Spring registration is for Spring semester classes only (AP Psychology, AP US Government, AP Comparative Government, and AP macroeconomics), not full year AP classes. All full year AP classes must be registered by October 1.
AP Exam Registration To-Do list for students
Students should prepare for their 2021-2022 AP courses and exams by completing the following:
- Visit https://apstudent.collegeboard.org to learn more about AP courses and exams.
- Create a College Board account if they do not have one already. Students will need their username and password when their AP classes begin in the fall.
- Students can call AP Services for Students Help Line at 1-888-225-5427 or 1-212-632-1780 if they already have an account but cannot remember their password or if they need to reconcile multiple College Board accounts.
- Teachers will give students a join code for each of their AP courses. Students will use their College Board username and password and join code to enroll in their class section.
- Since exams are ordered for specific students, and labels will be printed according to student registration rosters, there will be no stand-by testing opportunities. Remember, when you register for an exam, enter your NEISD Student ID# and your name as it appears in Skyward.
AP Classroom
- Please make sure you have joined the AP Classroom ASAP. If you do not know your information, you will need to call 888-225-5427 for assistance.
- Students need to join on time in order to avoid late fees/unused fees.
- There are many useful videos and tips to assist students with studying for the AP exam. Students can use the resources as study materials for the exams.
