World Language Honor Societies
Seventy-three new members were inducted into the CB South French and Spanish Honor Societies on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. These students took an oath to promote French and Spanish through friendship and understanding and to use languages as a tool for connecting to others throughout the world. Spanish, French and Latin students contributed to the celebration by performing as well. They recited information about the ancient city of Pompeii, played selections from Phantom of the Opera and Chopin on the piano, and sang Shake it Off and Thinking of You in Spanish.

Black vs. Blue 2017
What is it? Black vs Blue is a school wide competitive event that incorporates all interested students and promotes tremendous school spirit.

CB South's Mock Trial Team
Congratulations to CB South’s Mock Trial Team. The team won their final district competition against Council Rock South on Tuesday, February 21st. Best advocate and witness awards were also won by Sophia Wang and Dan Cohen. The team will advance to the regional competition in early March.

Program Planning
Program Planning for the sophomore and junior class is officially underway. All students received a copy of the 2017-2018 courses and directions of how to enter their classes in Student Portal earlier this month.
Important Program Planning dates:
Portal Opened- January 13th
Portal Closed- February 5th
Counselors will meet with students individually to verify requests- February 6th through March 8th
Verification Sheets Available- March 10th
Verification Sheets Returned (if changes are needed)- March 14th *No changes can be made after this date.
We understand that students are requesting classes before they begin their second semester courses. Students should use their best judgement and pick courses that they believe will be the most appropriate fit.
Battle of the Bands
On Wednesday, February 15th, the Class of 2018 hosted the Battle of the Bands in CB South's cafeteria. Six bands made up of South students performed for a crowd consisting of fans and families for a rockin’ night of rock, jazz, and funk music! A big thanks to all of the bands who performed, with special congratulations to our top two bands, Django and Reign or Shine! These two bands will have encore performances next month at miniTHON. Overall, the event raised over $1000 dollars for pediatric cancer research. Great job everyone!
AP Exam Registration Information
By Friday, February 10th, your son or daughter will have received AP exam registration and information bulletins in their AP class or Titan Forum. Online registration (through www.MyPaymentsPlus.com) began on Monday, February 13th. Registration will end Friday, March 17th. The cost of the exams will be $98 per exam. Any questions about the exams can be sent to Mr. Tom Hill at thill@cbsd.org.
Music News
Science Olympiad
On Saturday, February 4th, the CB South Science Olympiad Team traveled to Manheim Central High School in Lancaster County. While there, they finished 5th out of 18 teams in the Baron’s Invitational. This achievement capped off countless hours of extra work in school and at home for all of the members that competed in this event. The following students earned individual medals: Richard Song and Aarohi Shah (Remote Sensing), Ryan Won (Robot Arm, Wind Power and Towers), Faith Cao and Susan Liu (Rocks and Minerals), Nishant Chintala (Wind Power). The team will continue to build, practice, and study in preparation for the state regional event on March 1st at Neumann University.
Beyond Words Book Club Sponsors A Children's Book Drive
Students: Consider Entering the CB Logo Contest!
The district is redesigning their logo and website for a fresh, contemporary look and feel. The district is holding a logo design contest open to all Central Bucks students, K-12. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship.

Attention CB South Spring Athletes!
Spring registration is currently open. If you are interested in playing a spring sport, please register on Family ID and hand in the CIPPE Forms, pages 5 and 6. If you already played a fall or winter sport, please register with Family ID and have your parent or guardian fill out page 7 of the CIPPE form.

WRESTLING
The wrestling team will travel to Council Rock North this weekend to wrestle in regionals. This past weekend, South wrestled at William Tennent High School for the League championships. South advanced seven wrestlers (Ryan Lewis, Kaleb Lerner, Ray Calderaio, Dominic Stoughton, Peter DeMallie, Val Bogachev,and Ben Bernhauser) to this weekend’s tournament. Keep an eye out for results as all wrestlers fight their way to States!
BASKETBALL
The girls' basketball season kicked off their playoffs with a 45-37 victory over Neshaminy High School on Wednesday, February 22nd. By winning the game, the girls are in the top eight of the district tournament and qualified for the state tournament for the second year in a row. The girls will compete in the district quarterfinals on Saturday, February 25th at Boyertown High School. Game time is 7:00 PM,
TRACK
Last weekend, the teams had their respective Association Championships. Highlights included the following:
-Lydia Fielding placing 3rd in the 200.
-Valerie Przekop placing 2nd in the High Jump.
-4x200 girls relay of Amanda Carr, Steph Hiltpold, Ashley Conway, and Lydia Fielding placing 11th.
-Matt Scarpill placing 2nd in the 3000.
-Kyle Magee placing 13th in the 60m High Hurdles.
-Michael Cannon placing 13th in the 200.
-4x200 boys relay of Tom Gentile, Paul Gabrys, Chris Cardamone,a nd Michael Cannon placing 12th.

STATE Championships:

SWIMMING AND DIVING
The boys' swimming and diving team hosted the League Championships Meet last Friday, February 17th. The boys swam well, posting numerous season and lifetime best times. Chip McElrath and Caleb Matsick made a district qualifying time in the 200 freestyle, Ben Komita made a district qualifying time in the 100 Backstroke. Finally, Dan Pohl made a district qualifying time in the 100 Breaststroke. Ten members of the team will be heading to the district championships meet next Thursday (3.2) and Friday (3.3) at LaSalle University. The athletes attending the district championships include the following: Dan Han, Dan Cohen, Dan Pohl, Matt Guo, Alex Brogan, Caleb Matsick, Chip McElrath, Tom Khayt, Ben Komita, and Reese McLaughlin.
The girls' swimming and diving team finished up their weekend of competition at the Suburban One Continental Conference League Championships with outstanding results. Almost everyone on the team had either season or lifetime best times, with a couple girls joining freshman swimmer Heidi Scholer as automatic qualifiers for the District One Swimming Championships in March. Senior captain Amanda Antonacci punched her ticket in the 100 backstroke, and fellow senior captain Natalie Keck qualified in the 500 freestyle. Divers Laura Bernert, Meghan Cunningham, and Vita Shabalow have already qualified for District One Diving Championships next week. A few more swimmers are waiting to see if they get in to the district meet as at-large seeds, but the Titans should be carrying a strong team heading into the championship meet at LaSalle University.

March Boomerang Award Asset
The March Boomerang Asset is CREATIVE ACTIVITIES. Young person participates in creative activities which have a direct positive impact on him/her and others. His/Her creativity can take a variety of forms - music, drama, art, etc. If you know a student who exemplifies this asset, please send your nomination to Mr. Matthew Gale at magale@cbsd.org.
