Providing educational leadership;promoting educational excellence
Description/Outcomes
Description
In order to assure that students achieve competency, how do we identify ‘competent’, promote depth of knowledge, and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate evidence of their learning? This two-part series will explore what is meant by academic rigor and competency in mathematics and science. During the first session, participants will begin to develop a performance task. The second session will be a working session, where participants will continue to develop and plan authentic assessments.
Teams are encouraged to attend.
Outcomes
As a result of attending this two part workshop , Participants will:
- learn about competency-based learning and performance assessment in science and mathematics
- design a sample performance task aligned to a competency
- develop and plan authentic assessments in science and/or mathematics
