The start of the school year has been wonderful in that we are able to have students in person. Our kids are wonderful and have stepped up and joined in class discussions and activities as well as extracurricular activities. We are so excited to have volleyball games, cross country meets, homework club, etc. The downside of the start of the school year is the difficulty of mitigating Covid in a high transmission time. We appreciate everyone's efforts and cooperation as we follow the guidance we are obligated to follow according to the health department and governing bodies. Our goal is to maintain a safe, in-person learning environment for our students and staff.
I have received questions that I feel need clarification.
What is the difference between Shield Testing and the Test to Stay program? Please refer to this document for clarification. Additional information regarding Covid protocols and transmission rates can be found on the D47.org webpage.
Will my student who is quarantined be able to make up the Fastbridge assessment? Yes! We are monitoring all return dates and will be able to provide this benchmarking assessment to those students upon their return.
If my student is exposed to a positive case of Covid and is required to quarantine, how will they be able to keep up with the classwork? Students will be able to log in to each of their classes' Google classrooms to access the assignments and resources as well as be able to communicate with the teacher who monitors the responses from students. We encourage all students to reach out to their teachers to see if there are certain classes or lessons that they would be able to join synchronously.
Lastly, I want to thank you for your participation and attendance at Parent Night this week. We enjoyed reconnecting with you and appreciated the kind feedback many of you shared. Thank you for recognizing that our staff is committed to teaching and learning and that we are all here for the kids. We love to partner with you in your students' education and appreciate it when those conversations are collaborative and kind.
