Science & Technology ~ September
Welcome New and Old
Welcome to Tyngsborough new TES students and welcome back to returning kiddos. My name is Mrs. Muraca and I will be your child's Science & Technology Specialist teacher throughout the year. We meet one time per week in either the Computer Lab room 304 or our new location for our MakerSpace in room 101. Headphones are a necessity for your child to keep at school for both my class and for her/his class computer activities. I am so excited to be working with your child and you to create a love and understanding for STEM+Art, Computer Science and Science enrichment. I have 25 years of teaching experience in various educational areas and settings. This is my 18th year in Tyngsborough. I have taught Kindergarten for 12 years, Alternative High School students with and without special needs for 6 years, Adult-Basic Education with students ranging in ages from 18-75, Preschool children for 2 years, TES Summer Adventures program for 6 years, and with students having Autism in a summer program for the past 2 years. The past 3 years as the Science & Technology teacher here at TES have been such a learning experience and I love seeing all of my students become invested in their scientific and problem-solving skills.
I love Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Art, and problem-solving. I hope I will be able to inspire your child to enjoy taking some safe risks and to motivate your child to become life-long learners.
We will be continuing our sewing this year in grades 3-5 definitely and possibly with the 2nd and 1st graders when we have mastered our classroom routines later in the year. We will be using our creative brains to ask, imagine, plan, create, and improve things in our daily lives. We will collaborate and learn to work respectfully with our peers to problem-solve STEM Challenges.
In Science & Technology, we will build our Computer Science skills and learn more keyboarding practice, Google Apps (Google Docs, Slides, Forms, Sheets etc.), we will learn to create impressive final projects and we will learn to utilize Google Classroom.
Our Makerspace will be busy, productive and sometimes messy. I have full expectations that my students will all show service and teamwork when getting the class cleaned up and ready for the next class of students. We are a great community and I love how we continue to show our S.T.R.I.P.E.S. in class.
Students in Grades 3-5 received a permission form from their homeroom teachers explaining our Google Applications and Google Docs accounts. Please give your child permission to continue using this amazing tool at our school. We need these forms returned as soon as possible to begin using the Google Accounts to do our amazing classwork and Science & Technology lessons throughout the school year. These accounts are through our Tyngsborough public school email access only for safety purposes.
Please see below to check out the Mrs. Muraca Hotlist that we use at school on our devices. I highly recommend you bookmark on your browser.
