SVMS PTSA Update
Teacher Appreciation
Teacher appreciation week will begin Monday, May 4th and conclude Friday, May 8th. We will have many opportunities for family to help us celebrate. The themes for this year will include a Dessert bar, catering lunch one day, providing breakfast foods one day, a Spa day, and conclude with a movie night gift. Please watch the announcements for sign up genius links with donation opportunities.
PTSA Positions Needed
We are looking for a few good parents to help us run the PTSA next year. The Treasurer position will be opening up and needs to be filled. We are also in need of a media coordinator. This person will be responsible for PTSA social media posting as well as creating and updating the PTSA newsletter. Time commitments for both of these positions are variable and flexible. If you are interested, contact Lori Hillman at ljc3162@hotmail.com.
Last Chipotle Fundrasing Night-April 28th
Thanks to all who contributed to our last restaurant night at Chipotle. The profits made from that day will go a long way to fund our student field trips. We are once again participating in restaurant night at Chipotle on April 28th from 4-8. This will be our last fundraising effort with Chipotle for the rest of the year. Let's see if we can break the record and give the kiddos a bit more money so that they can have a great field trip experience! Tell your friends, family and neighbors!
Field Trips Are Back-May 13
May 13 is South Valley Field Trip Day! Each grade level is going to a special destination that day and students will be receiving information and permission slips in Advisory after Spring Break. On May 13, students need to be here by 8:45 at the latest and will not be available for early pick-up for doctor’s appointments, etc on that day as we will not return from our field trips until the end of the day. It’s going to be an awesome experience!
- 6th graders are going to the Nelson Atkins, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and American Jazz Museum.
- 7th graders are visiting the Arrowhead Sports Lab and taking a tour of Kauffman stadium.
- 8th graders will be visiting a Civil War battle site and state park in Lexington, as well as touring the town of Lexington.
21st Century Learning
There is some really great collaboration happening between students and classes at SVMS. Here is a video explaining how the FACS classes and the IT classes are working together to make a more enriching atmosphere for our students.
