St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 4 | 12 AUGUST 2021
God, thank you for this day! Thank you for the birds and the animals, the flowers and the trees, the lakes and the streams, and the sun that rises and sets over them each day. Thank you for creating everything we see! Thank you for the life we live, and for making each person different. Thank you for Jesus, who died for us so that we can go to heaven one day just for believing in him. What an amazing God You are! In Jesus’ Name.
Amen
The Assumption of Mary, 15th August
On the 15th August the Church celebrates the Feast Day of the Assumption of Our Lady when according to our faith, the Holy Mother, “having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”.
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
Last Friday, I ticked something off my bucket list – a ride in an old fire engine! I was lucky enough to join the Pre-Kindy students as they enjoyed a visit from a retired firefighter and his fire engine. Thank you to Mrs French and Mrs Page for organising this fabulous experience.
A big thank you to our P&F Committee for a very successful Retro Bingo last Saturday night. The night was fun and a great opportunity to dress up and dance the night away! Well done on this wonderful ‘fundraising’ event!
I am excited to share some staffing news with our school community. Miss Brianna Bechelli (Year 4G) and Miss Monica Italiano (Year 1G) have both accepted a secondment to St Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School in Port Hedland for the next four weeks. This is a unique and wonderful opportunity for them both and I look forward to hearing all about their adventures on their return.
The Catholic Performing Arts continued this week with our Year 5W students impressing the judges with a piece in the Christian Drama section. Thank you to Mrs Lisa Burnett and Mrs Louise McDonald for the wonderful effort that has gone into preparing the students for this event. I am looking forward to listening to our school choir on Monday as they represent the school in the Sacred Choral Choir section.
With the flu season in full swing, I would like to remind parents and caregivers that if your child is unwell please consider the school community and keep them home until they are well enough to come back to school. Please email the school admin if your child will be away from school.
Please remember that Friday, August 20th, is a Pupil Free Day. The school will be closed on this day as all staff will be participating in a Professional Learning Day off site.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
God Bless
