history
Maoris were the first people to come and live in New Zealand. They arrived on the islands about 1,000 years ago. The Maoris oral history says that the Maoris came to the islands in seven canoes from other parts of Polynesia. In 1642, New Zealand was explored by a dutch navigator, Abel Tasman. a British captain named, James Cook made three voyages to the islands, the voyages began in, 1769. Britain took over the islands in, 1840.

New Zealand is a very mutual-cultural country. Approximately 14% of the New Zealand population are indigenous Maori, 6% is pacific islanders and, 9% Asian. The white population (pakeha) come from the United Kingdom background.The primary religion of New Zealand is all black rugby union.Before a sporting event a version of the haka is performed, which is a generic term for Mari dance.

Mari bone is used to carve in traditional designs carrying a spiritual meaning.

All black rugby is New Zealand's nickname for the team. The teams real name is, The New Zealand national rugby union team.
Clothing
Traditional Maori clothing came from native plants, bird skin, and animal skins.

New Zealand has 18,000km of cost line. The islands also has a land of mountains, lakes,and rivers, native forest, and farm lands. The country has all of these environments still because it was isolated for million of years. Since the country has so many green hills and valleys,all the hobbit movies were filmed there.

New Zealand is know for there green hills, the well known move "hobbit' was filmed in New Zealand.
Mountains
Most of the alpine /mountain of New Zealand are in the South Island. A chain of the mountains begins in north-west Nelson and the Kaikōura ranges, they extend into the Southern Alps. The Southern Alps have the highest peaks. The most famous mountain in New Zealand is called Aoraki. Aoraki is the Maori name for Mt Cook.this mountain is New Zealand's highest mountain at 3754 metres or 12,316 feet.
Arthur River
This river is called the ᎪᎡᎢᎻᏌᎡ ᎡᏆᏙᎬᎡ. It is in Fiordland, New Zealand. It flows through Milford Sound and the final section of the Milford Track.

There are a lot of animals on the island of New Zealand. Some of the animals native to New Zealand are, a few primitive frogs, two species of bats, a few reptiles, and many birds. A lot of New Zealand's animals and went extinct due to human settlement. When explorers came, they brought a lot of rodents and cats that would eat New Zealand's smaller animals. pavlova is a common dessert used for vistors coming to the island. The dessert is made up of moist cake, whipped cream and fruits.
