Ms. Liz's Biweekly Class Updates

For the week of 5/6

UPDATES

THANK YOU FOR COMING THRU WITH DESSERTS

Just an update; word around campus was that "Ms. Liz's class" showed out with desserts. Great job everyone!!

PHOTO BOOK UPDATES

You all should have received an email from Ted regarding the photo book and your pictures and quotes. He only has one more day to work on it before Friday so please follow through. Thank you.

THANK YOU ESTHER FOR A BEAUTIFUL JOB ON THE POSTER!!

A HUGE THANKS to Esther (Deborah's mom) for doing a beautiful job creating the poster. Ms. Liz was presented with it at the luncheon this afternoon. You are all going to love it. Feel free to come by the classroom and check it out. And if you happen to see Esther around, don't be shy to give her a nod, or a smile or a big "thank you!" hug.

WE DID IT! Ms. Liz is getting her "gold" item plus some!

Hi Everyone, we did it! Thanks to your donations Ms. Liz will not only be receiving her "gold" item, the Lunar Interactive Projection Camera, but it will also be arriving on time for Friday! Wait, it's gets better, as if that weren't enough we had enough money left over to buy almost every single item on her regular wish-list PLUS get her and Ms. Natalie a couple trips to Starbucks. How awesome is that?! Thanks again everyone. You all rock! A special thanks to Gabby and Esther for taking the time out to go pick up the wish-list items today and Tracey (Amariyah's Aunti) for getting the books! Now, remember, this is a surprise, so don't mention any of this to Ms. Liz or Ms. Natalie! In fact, I think it would be a great idea, for those of us who can, to meet up in the classroom around 2pm on Friday, (before they arrive back from the field trip), and we capture that moment of surprise, as we present them with their basket of goodies.

This Trimester: Native American culture

This trimester, we are combining our first TfU, "My Place in My Community," and our second unit, "Communities in the Natural World," in order to take a look at how cultural communities are formed within an environment. 1st grade will be studying Native American cultures and we have two upcoming field trips to the Ballona Wetlands and the Gene Autry Museum.

Class Pet Lizard Lizzy

Our class lizard Lizzy needs a home for the summer! There is already a full set-up and she is a super chill, low-maintenance animal.

Ms. Liz's Golden Goal

We are also continuing to work on developing our emotional vocabulary and use our words to express how we feel.
