Run Hide Fight
We are nearing our April 26th, Building-wide Run/Hide/Fight training for staff and students. The schedule for this day includes our final Ohio State Test (EOC) in the morning. Students will then report to classes and lunch, which will dismiss at 11:30 AM. Any parent/caregiver wanting to have their child opt out of the active intruder/shooter drill should pick them up no later than 11:30 AM that morning. Staff and students present at the time of the drill will have the option to opt out of the drill as well for those wanting to remain but not participate. Those individuals will be called for over the PA System prior to the commencement of the drill.
What can you expect if you participate in the drill?
For safety reasons, we cannot share all of the intricacies, but here's a rundown of the drill. A law enforcement officer will act as an intruder, including simulated gunshots, to engage the drill. Depending on their locations, staff and students will have the opportunity to:
1. Run - those able to quickly exit will do so and be scooped up by uniformed law enforcement at one of four safety locations outside of the building. They'll remain there until the drill is complete.
2. Hide - those unable to run, will be able to engage their "hide" or barricade protocols. These individuals will remain secure during the event and await an all-clear by administration.
3. Fight - for those who are in close contact with the intruder and not able to run or hide, which will be a very small number, they WILL NOT be actively fighting. Rather, they will simply be escorted by school officials to one of the safety areas.
Why are we permitting individuals to opt out?
We appreciate that practicing these types of situations, even though we know it's practice, can be troubling for some staff and students. We are appreciative of that and not looking to force this upon anyone.
What supports are in place after the drill?
Mental health staff, including our building dog, Kondo, will be in a secure location and those students or staff needing to access this support will be directed to do so by school officials. These team members will be on hand the morning of 4/27 as well.
Is this being coordinated with law enforcement?
Absolutely! Mr. Davie and his team along with SRO Reihs and the leadership at the Oxford Police Department have reviewed the detailed plan to ensure the efficacy of the drill as well as the safety of students and staff throughout.
What information will be shared with my student before the drill?
Just prior to the drill, a pre-recorded video by Mr. Davie and Ofc. Reihs will be shared for all staff and students to view. This video will review the safety protocols in place at THS and specifically outline what staff and students can expect during the April 26th drill. It will also outline the post-drill follow-up and supports that will be in place.

Spring End Of Course Exams (EOC's)
The first week of state assessments at THS went very well. We are very proud of how hard our students worked! Any student who missed their test due to an absence will be contacted soon about scheduling a make-up appointment. Next week students will be taking state assessments for biology, American history, government, geometry, and algebra. Students who are scheduled to test should have received an email from Mrs. Butz. If they did not, reach out to her or your counselor right away.
The testing week schedule is found above. Non-testing students do not need to report until 10:00. Any students that do not have transportation at 10:00 can ride the bus. The Cafeteria will be available for study hall from 7:45-10:0
Please bring a CHARGED CHROMEBOOK to school for each test.
