Great start to the year!
From all of us here at Haymarket Elementary School, thanks for an awesome start to the school year! It is great being able to see our students' smiles walking through the hallways once again. So many improvements were done over the summer to prepare for this school year, starting with the hard work of our custodians (as I continue to mention via many avenues!). With the support of our PTO, we were able to purchase more swings (more than doubling what we had before), two Buddy Benches, and 6 picnic tables.
As many of you know, having a strong relationship with a child goes a long ways. Our teachers worked hard last week to learn about each and every child and their needs. This will continue throughout the year because with strong relationships comes growth! Beyond getting to know our students at a personal level, teachers are actively getting to know the academic needs of the students in their classrooms. They will continue to focus on differentiating instructional practices in various group settings to ensure we are reaching each and every student at their optimal learning level.
Last, get involved and engaged! We have many opportunities for parents to be involved and engaged, including but not limited to participating in PTO and Advisory Council, attending Back to School Nights (dates and times listed below), and keeping a close, constant touch with your child's teacher.
We are here for you...we can't do this alone though! Together we can take Haymarket ES to another level!
Mr. Baldwin, Mrs. Gazda, Mrs. Mills

Emergency Care Cards and ParentVUE
Many of you received the blue Emergency Care Cards at Open House. Please sign both sides and make all the necessary changes and return them to the school as soon as you can. If you have not received your card, please contact the office.
*ParentVUE: If you are having any problems signing up for ParentVUE please call the office for assistance. Due to student information security, we cannot accept phone calls for addition, deletion, or changes to emergency contact information. We can however accept email requests from the email address that we have on file. You may also stop in the office too!
Parent Drop Off/Pick Up
Please remember that the safest way to drop off/pick up your child each day is through the car line. Pulling around to the side is not ideal for many reasons, safety being number one. While we know that cars shouldn't go around school buses when loading and unloading, going around vans on the side is the same! We are concerned about everyone's safety in that regard. If you do have to come into the school for some reason, please know that parking in a handicap space is a ticket-able and fee-able offense.
Please be patient and wait in the car line so we can assist with students coming into the building and ensure everyone is safe at all times. If you are in the line and the bell rings, you will be permitted to send your child in on time!
Mrs. Rop's Summer Work!
We are extremely fortunate to have MANY talented individuals working at HMES. Ms. Rop is certainly one of them! As you can see in the pictures below, she was hard at work this summer finalizing the Haymarket family tree in the front lobby, but also reminding us of the beauty of nature each time we check our mail in the office. Thanks Ms. Rop!
LEGO Collecting for Childhood Cancer Month
For the entire month of September, we will be collection NEW Legos for all those children currently undergoing treatment! Legos help these bright young minds stay busy during their long hospital stays and/or emergency room visits. Please place your donations in the collections boxes in the main office and around the school!
