High School Parent Teacher Conferences

High School parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Please contact the Academic Office at 419-331-4115 to schedule IN-PERSON appointments. Any in-person attendees will be required to wear a mask at all times while in the building. The teachers will have tables/desks set up in a manner to promote social distancing requirements. For those who prefer virtual parent-teacher conferences, please contact teachers directly through Schoology. Just note if requesting a virtual conference, it may take the teachers a day to respond, since teachers will have to first verify available times with office staff.

USDA Extends Free Meals for the Entire School Year

The Ohio Dept. of Education received approval to expand free breakfast and lunch to all students attending schools on the National School Lunch program through the entire 2020-21 school year. This opportunity continues the US Dept. of Agriculture and Ohio Dept. of Education's dedication to meeting the needs of the whole child during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quiz Bowl News

Congratulations to the 7th & 8th grade Quiz Bowl Team on their first night of tournament play, Monday, Oct. 6. They had a record of three and one on Monday night as they defeated Bath 32-27, Wapak 25-22, and South 32-13. Their only loss was against Shawnee 22-30. Good luck to the team this Monday on their final round of tournament play!

Book Fair Fun in the Elementary

Staff and students had a good time with Dress Up days during the Book Fair this week! 80s day, Tie-dye Tuesday, Western Wednesday, dress as your favorite book character on Thursday and Future Friday!

Thanks to the Elementary PTO for all your help coordinating the activities and all your help with annual book fair for our students!

Kindergarten Teachers Really "Rock"

When they have the chance to have some fun and celebrate reading, too, our kindergarten teachers don't miss the chance. Here they are during Book Fair Dress Up as their favorite book character on Thursday. A great rendition of "Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes." Nicely done!

Middle School Book Fair

This year's Scholastic Book Fair will be held ONLINE starting Mon., Nov. 2 - 15. Parents and students can shop online by visiting https://www.scholastic.com/bf/elidamiddleschool2. All orders ship directly to you. Every book parents and students order supports the Elida Middle School library! We know how much the students enjoy our book fair every year and hope to bring it back in person next year. Thank you for your continued support in making our library the best it can be!

High School Halloween Spirit Week

Students and teachers enjoyed getting in the halloween spirit this week with theme dress days and a door decorating contest. There were lots of great designs, some pictured below, and the winning class will win a pizza lunch! Yikes, Mr. Larimore!

Financial Summit for Area Business Leaders

Each year, Elida Treasurer Joel Parker and Superintendent Mengerink host a meeting with a group of area business owners and managers for a luncheon and discussion session. This year's session held this morning, Friday, October 30th.

We welcomed Mike Kleman- Service Master At Your Service, Jon Fueh-Husky Energy, John Laux- Laux Chiropractic, Scott Cockerell-Wannemacher Total Logistics, Nick Sarno- Webb Insurance, Brad Selover- T&D Interiors, Lisa Kiehl-HCF Mgt., and Joe Campbell-Premier Bank.

During the luncheon, Mr. Parker discussed Elida District finances, the start of the school year and the impact of COVID-19 and the new elementary project, and answered various questions from the group. Afterward, the group took a tour of the elementary construction site.

Elementary Construction Update

It's been another busy week on the elementary construction site! This week progress includes window installation in some areas, electrical wiring, mechanical equipment install, restroom work, overhead plumbing, some doors installed and exterior brick washed. Check out more pictures and details in this week's UPDATE.
