Elements, Compounds and Mixtures
Here you will learn about Elements,Compounds and Mixtures
What is an element ?
An element is a substance consisting of atoms which all have the same number of protons.Elements are the building blocks for all the rest of the matter in the world
Examples consist of iron, oxygen, hydrogen, gold and helium
What is a compound ?
A compound is a substance formed when two or more chemical elements are chemically bonded together.
An example of a compound is when sodium atoms and chlorine atoms are joined together with an ionic bond.
Proton
A subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nuclei with a positive charge
Neurton
A subatomic particle of about the mass as a proton but without an electric charge, present in all atomic nuclei
Electron
A stable subatomic particle with a charge of negative electricity, found in all atoms and acting as the primary carrier of electricity in solids

What is a mixture
A mixture is made when two or more substances are combined, but not combined chemically
Example- Flour and sugar may be combined to form a mixture
General properties of a mixture
- The components of a mixture can be easily separated
- The components each keep their original properties
- The proportion of the components is variable
