Family Learning Teams
Our Family Learning Team night is coming up quick--Please mark your calendars! Our family learning team is on February 6 at 6:00. This is a great opportunity for you to learn what your child is doing in class! Here is a little bit about what Family Learning Teams are:
What exactly is a Family Learning Team night and what happens while I am there? Family Learning Teams are meant to show you what your child is learning in class, what progress they are making, and how you can better assist your child at home. Resources and activities you can do at home will be provided to you.
How long are they? The meetings run around 60 mins. Teachers go through what is currently being taught and teaches you brief activities you could do with your child at home. Day care is provided during this time for your children!
How will I know how my child is doing? You will be provided an individual folder and can still address any questions or concerns you may have. After attending the meeting, you should have a good idea of what your child is learning and the progress they are making.
We hope to see you there. Parents who attended our first Family Learning Team night really enjoyed it. Even if you missed the first meeting, it is okay to come to the second; you will not be behind or have missed anything that would not allow you to attend. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call or email!
Make sure to sign up for our "One Book, One School" program! It's a great book!
Science & Social Studies
We have decided to create an "ABC's of Wisconsin" book. We brainstormed ideas for each letter of the alphabet. Students were randomly called on to pick which letter they'd like to work on. We are researching now, and some students have even started writing! I will be sending information home if you'd like to purchase a book. Our end of year event will be a "book signing" by our students.
Envisions Math
We started Topic 9: division. We will keep working on the process of division and fact practice.
Please have your child practice their multiplication facts at home daily. Even if it is for 5 minutes, the hard work and practice will pay off and be so beneficial. This fall, I sent home information regarding an online math program called "First In Math". We have a subscription for every student in our class. Students are encouraged to practice at home if able. If you do not have internet access, please use flash cards or practice orally with your child. Thanks for your support!
Wonders
Next week, we will continue with our daily Wonders lessons. We will also begin writing letters as our writing center. We are going to write letters to Mason Z. and Mrs. Lorch.
NORTHLAND PINES SCHOOL DISTRICT PARENT NETWORK MEETING
The parent meeting will have a presenter from Options Counseling discussing what we as a community should be looking for. They will also be discussing resources that parents can utilize to help their son/daughter in getting the help they need. Please consider taking an hour out of your day to become familiar with signs your child may be exhibiting. Mental health has no age barrier so all parents are welcome to attend.
