Noteworthy Notes
Next week are all three open houses. 6th grade on Tuesday, 5th grade on Wednesday, and 4th grade on Thursday. All three will run from 6:30 - 7:30. This is a great opportunity to hear from your children's teachers and see the learning environment where they spend their days. Please come on time and come through the main entrance. 5th and 6th grade parents should report to the auditorium and 4th grade parents can bring their children to lead them right to their classrooms (we will also have helpers). We look forward to seeing you soon!
2. Dismissing your child from school
Please dismiss your child before 1:45 PM if you would like them to be dismissed before the end of the day. From 1:45 until 2:10 our office staff is busy with end of day duties and students are switching locations to prepare for the end of the day, so we will not be able to dismiss your child until school is over.
3. Math Enrichment
Very soon information will be coming out about our Math Enrichment program this year. We will be utilizing Perennial Math and are really excited about the opportunities it brings for some students to apply learned problem-solving strategies to more complex enrichment problems.
4. Makerspace
The Mill Pond Makerspace, Imagination Station will be opening to students soon filled with brand new supplies generously donated by the recent WETF fundraiser. Currently, we are looking for volunteers to help with assisting us as we provide STEM/STEAM opportunities to students. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to explore. If you have a special talent that you would like to share with students, we would love to set up some time for you to come in. Please contact Dee Kohler at kohlerg@westboroughk12.org. Volunteers will need an updated CORI which can be applied for through the front office. Hope to hear from you soon.
5. WYBA Basketball Tryouts
Tryouts for the upcoming season: Sunday, September 30 and Saturday, October 6, 2018 at
Westborough High School. All Westborough girls and boys entering grades 4-8 are eligible. See brochure at the end for details and links.
6. Let's Dance
Let's Dance for 6th graders begins this Monday, 10/1. Students should arrive at Mill Pond between 6:15 and 6:30pm. If your child has not yet signed up and wants to participate, please contact Michele Calderone at keough17@gmail.com or Jen Niece at jennifer.niece@verizon.net to be added to the list. Payment can be brought on Monday ($80 cash or check payable to Lamoureaux School of Dancing). Girls should wear a dress, skirt, or nice pants, and boys should wear a shirt, tie, and blazer with pants or a suit. No jeans, leggings, sweatpants, or sneakers please.
We're also still in need of parent chaperones - the 3rd session is currently available on the Sign Up Genius found at:
