5 types of licenses
1. Public Domain- is not protected by copyright law because it meets one of the examples
Examples: copyright expired, the work was created using public money, the creator donated the work to public domain
2. Freeware- copyrighted work that you can use, copy, or give away for free
Examples: itunes and safari
3. Shareware-You get it for free at first, but then you have to pay for the full package (free trial)
Example: Minecraft
4. All Rights Reserved- may be used by the purchaser according to the exact details spelled out in the license agreement
Example: a movie
5. Open Source- software that includes the source code with the idea that someone can improve upon it
Examples: Plone and mozilla foundation
