The Manning Weekly Newsletter
May 8, 2020
Dear Families,
Good evening Manning Families:
I am writing to update you about the end of the school year. Much of this information came to you on Wednesday evening as well!
Dr. Glass has made clear to us that we should continue learning through the end of our scheduled school year. Students should plan to engage in remote learning through Friday, May 22.
We send our weekly update to families each Monday with expectations about remote learning for that week. Please look there for teachers’ plans for finals and end of year celebrations.
We are sending current 6th and 7th graders their schedules for this year. Mr. Gordon and Ms. Gaines are sending each individual student and their families an email with their schedule and the schedule change request process. You should receive these by the end of business on Friday, May 8.
Our Continuation ceremony for our 8th graders will happen virtually on May 21 at 6pm. We will email a link to the live broadcast. It will also be recorded and available on our website after its initial airing.
**NEW** On Friday, May 22 from 2-3, we invite continuing 8th graders and their families to take one last celebratory drive through our fabulous parking lot to wave goodbye to their teachers and staff. Please see details in the "announcements" section of this newsletter!
I am also writing to share Manning’s procedures for allowing students to pick up and drop off essential items at the school before our school year ends.
During their scheduled day and time outlined in the table below:
Students can pick up their yearbook if they ordered one.**
Students who rented instruments from Manning or have books from our library should return them.
Students may get essential personal items out of lockers.
Any student who is attending a school outside of Jeffco Public Schools in the 2020-2021 school year should return their Chromebooks and chargers. 8th graders continuing onto a Jeffco High School should keep their Chromebooks over the summer.

Map of Traffic Flow
Things to consider:
You may arrive any time during your window; staggering your arrival will help alleviate congestion.
If you have students in multiple grades, have one of them collect items from all lockers in the family. That way, you won’t need to come to the school multiple times.
Please put any items you are dropping off in your trunk and open it for us to collect them. That way, we can minimize contact and maintain 6 feet of distance.
If you’re returning a Chromebook, please make sure it’s clean and the charger cord is wrapped up.
All students will be required to wear a mask at all times in the building. Please attach a piece of paper with your student’s name to both the Chromebook and the charger.
Only 10 students at a time may enter the building; no other family members will be permitted.
We can’t allow congregating in or out of the building. Families-- please stay in your vehicles, and remind students to stay 6 feet apart.
Remember that we have Open House/Registrations days scheduled on Aug 12, 10:30am-2:30pm or Aug 13, 2-6:30pm. If your students are returning to Manning and can wait until August to get things from their lockers, please have them wait.
**We are working with LifeTouch, our yearbook company, and they are trying hard to meet this delivery deadline. Because of staff shortages, they may not deliver our yearbooks in May. If they are unable to deliver by May 19, we will contact you with alternate plans for getting yearbooks to you!
If your scheduled time doesn’t work for you, please reach out to Jeena at Jeena.Templeton@jeffco.k12.co.us to schedule another time.
Thank you, as always, for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

8th Grade Continuation Update
Continuation will begin with an 8th Grade Slideshow. We would love pictures of your 8th grader as babies and toddlers, as middle schoolers, hanging with their friends, playing sports, singing in choir, etc. If you're willing to share them, please put them in THIS DROPBOX! Deadline for submission is TODAY!! Friday, May 8.
Also, as we know how important it is to give our incredible 8th graders the chance to say goodbye to one another before they head to high school, we have rescheduled the 8th Grade Picnic at Maple Grove Park to Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10am. We hope you'll join us!
