Gun Control
The Ins and Outs of Acquiring a Firearm
Purchasing Laws
In order to legally purchase a hand gun in the United States one must be 21 years of age or older. You must obtain a permit to purchase which is done through your local sheriffs office, consisting of an FBI background check. In order to purchase a rifle or shotgun you must be 18 years of age or older and withhold either a permit to purchase or a background check will be done. You may not have any felony charges of any type, you must be an american citizen, and you can not have ever committed any violent crimes including domestic abuse.
The Right to Carry
In order to conceal/carry a firearm on your person you have to take and pass a firearm safety and law course. You have to go to the sheriffs office with your completion certificate of the course where an FBI background check is done. The same criteria applies as to obtaining a firearm as listed above.
Rules of carrying a firearm
Not all states stand by the same rules when it comes to carrying a concealed weapon. In North Carolina for example a gun may not be carried into law correctional places such as prison. It may not be carried in any space occupied by either state or federal employees. Not allowed on school grounds. May not be carried anywhere where alcoholic beverages are sold/consumed or anywhere where businesses prohibit them from being on the premises and not by anyone who is/has consumed alcoholic or drug substances.
