Nepris Overview

Google Classroom- We are getting flipped!

Yes, the education world is new and crazy and exciting these days and part of that is because of our access to technology. With how kids are growing up now and the way the world around them is adapting, education must too adapt in order for them to be successful in this "Coming Soon" future world. Google created a solution for this through the Google Classroom.

Most of our students are already logged in, but if they are not I've included a video how-to to help you out at home. I've also attached a how to for navigating Google Classroom.

Their UN is last name first initial middle initial @rcbulldogs.net

If they don't know their PW then it will be rcbulldogs. If it asks them to change their PW please make sure they write down their changed PW and give it to me so I can add it to my list at school.

We will start doing assignments using Google Classroom and Google Apps for Education (slides, docs, sheets, drawing) next week for Lancaster's group and the following week for Knauth's group in Social Studies. I will continue to post notes and videos shared with class into the ABOUT section of Google Classroom for study purposes.

Students are welcome to bring their own device (BYOD) next week to download the app and get things set up with me at school.

The Leader In Me & The 7 Habits

Habit 1: Be Proactive

We are going to start using the 7 Habits of Happy Kids in our time together. This is a great resource to develop leaders who take responsibility for their own actions and engage positively in the world around them. The first habit we will focus on is Habit 1: Be Proactive. This means that you are in charge of yourself. Your body movements, the things you say and the choices you make are all of your own doing and it can be difficult to accept this, even as an adult but when we do life becomes much easier and happier. If people could master only 1 of the 7 habits, this would be the 1 to have! I will be using Class Dojo to help reinforce the habits in class. I will also send home a "Parent's Guide" sheet for habit 1 and tips for practicing this habit at home with your child. You can view this guide below also.

Not sure how this applies to real life? Check out this clip from Wall-E where the Captain says he doesn't want to just sit back and do nothing, he wants to do something- he wants to LIVE! Let's challenge each other to be proactive this week, step up and be the leader!
