Counseling Connection

April 2016

April Highlights

All twelfth grade students participated in the Senior Survey. Counselors met with English classes in computer labs for students to report their post-secondary plans. With the support of teachers, the counseling department was able to ensure that we have notated all Seniors' post-secondary plans.

The final 9th grade Parent Chat was held on April 18. 25 parents attended and learned valuable information regarding GACollege411, Understanding HOPE Rigor Requirements, and Finals Schedule.

We mailed a letter home for 9-11th grade students who need to make up credits, identifying credits and testing needed for graduation. Along with the letter, we sent summer school information. Our goal for mailing this communication is to encourage our students to recover credits over the summer and return in the Fall, on grade level and on track for graduation.

Ms. Lake did a fantastic job coordinating a celebration for Seniors who have been accepted to college. Students brought their acceptance letters, were added to the "Grayson's Going Places" bulletin board, and were acknowledged with a reception during 7th period on April 28.

Peer Leaders

We are in the process of selecting next year's peer leaders.

Our NP4H initiative has been a success. All paperwork and activities were submitted to the Anti-Defamation League and we are waiting to find out if we will be named a NP4H school for the 2nd year in a row!
