Attendance Matters!
Attendance Letters were sent home to familes if their child had 5, 10 or more unexcused absences, tardies, and/or early dismissals.
At CIP we inspire students to become life long learners and responsible citizens in our community by providing a challenging and supportive environment. One of our goals at CIP is to prepare our students for success. Attendance Matters! Please continue to have your child attend school in person and/or virtually based on your child's learning choice chosen for trimester 3.
According to RI General Law 16-18-1 every child is required to attend public school during all the days and hours that the public schools are in session in the city or town the child resides. Students are therefore expected to be present each day of the school year unless officially excused. This includes times such as these when distance learning has been fully or partially implemented, and attendance and engagement in continuous educational learning matters the most.
If your child is ill and cannot attend school in person and/or virtually please call the office at 647-5100 and/or email kim.maddalena@paineschool.org, or use the COVID Hotline 217-5019. to report your child's absent and/or symptoms. Mrs. Verducci, our school nurse is available at kristen.verducci@paineschool.org.
Please call the office at 647-5100 at any time if you are need of support or guidance at home. Our school social worker and school psychologist are also available to help and can be reached at maureen.mcentee@paineschool.org and angela. ruscito@paineschool.org.
*Please keep in mind that EXCUSED Absences, Tardies, and Early Dismissals require a Drs. Note or an excusal from the school nurse.
Arrival & Dismissal Updates This Month~
CIP doors will open for student arrival at 8:55 am. Please do not drop off students prior to 8:55 am without adult supervision outside. Adult supervision and doors will remain open from 8:55-9:10am.
Arrival will begin for parent drop offs at 8:55 am. It is requested that Last Names:A-L arrive between: 8:55- 9:02 am and Last Names M-Z: arrive between 9:04-9:10 am. The change is due to the traffic congestion with vehicles and buses as well as the safety of our students. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in advance. We have more families dropping off and more students returning to CIP and this is exciting but we need to add some additional safety measures in place at this time.
If your child arrives after 9:10, please report to the main entrance/office with your child. Virtual and In Person Learners will be marked tardy after 9:14 am and/or the start of morning meeting.
Please make sure your child is attending ALL Classes! Please have your child follow the schedule and be on time for all classes listed in their Google Classroom. Attendance is crucial to your child's education and is reported to RIDE for accountability.
Dismissal will begin for parent pick ups at 3:19pm; Last names: A-L: 3:19-3:24 pm and Last Names: M-Z: 3:24-3:31pm. Please remember your Photo ID!
Please wear masks and practice social distancing until you and your child are safely in your vehicle. Please NO PETS outside any vehicles.
Bus dismissal will begin as bus transportation arrives. Hoping to have all students dismissed safely between 3:26- 3:31 pm from the building.
Please remember to send in your child's "yellow/white slip" for any changes in transportation. Form
*If you are "picking up" classroom materials please avoid arrival and dismissal times since this will interfere with safety. Materials can be "picked up" until 4:15pm daily.
All Materials will be placed in the front foyer by grade levels in bins. Please buzz the office to retrieve materials.
***There will be limited access to the building during April Recess. Please plan accordingly.
Thank you!

Fire, Safety, and Lockdown Drills~
Fire, Safety, and Lockdown Drills-
Fire, safety, and lockdown drills are necessary for the safety of students, faculty and staff. State law requires fifteen drills per year. These drills are crucial so staff and students know where to go and how to respond if there was ever an actual threatening situation. All safety procedures are reviewed annually with staff. The school will conduct 15 drills per year following the RIDE requirements and COVID protocols as well as safety guidelines.
* In an event of a fire or potential safety concern families will be notified as soon as possible with an update and instructions if needed. Please avoid contacting and arriving at the school. Our focus first and foremost, is the safety of all the students and staff in the building. Visitors will NOT be allowed in the building during an emergency situation. We have safety procedures and protocols in place to ensure our CIP students and staff are safe. We thank you in advance with your patience and cooperation regarding this matter.

"Sesame Street in Communities" Workshop Series
PBS RI and Sesame Street are hosting a virtual workshop series opportunity. The Sesame Street in Communities series of six workshops runs from February 11 through April 22, and we welcome all who would like to attend any or all of the virtual zoom sessions. Workshop sessions are being offered in both English and Spanish. Informational blurbs in English & Spanish included below, and flyer attached, along with registration info and links.
We are excited to announce our Sesame Street in Communities workshop series! Presented by Rhode Island PBS, in collaboration with RI KIDS COUNT, Massachusetts Strategies for Children, and RI & MA SEIU Education and Support Fund, this workshop series is focused on providing caregivers, parents and educators with FREE tools and resources from Sesame Street to increase successful outcomes, both in school and in life, for children, primarily in rural communities both in RI and MA. The series consists of three sessions on different topics, and will be presented in English and Spanish. The English session series will take place on Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. via Zoom on the following dates:
-February 11: Health Emergencies: Health emergencies bring many challenges and much uncertainty for young children, but there are things we can do to face each day with optimism and hope. The resources that we will highlight can help families cope during challenging times.
March 11: Traumatic Experiences: When a child endures a traumatic experience, the whole family feels the impact. But adults hold the power to help lessen its effects. We will learn how to bring those factors to life.
April 8: Science: Kids are natural scientists. Whether indoors or on the go, exploring together and asking questions helps them learn about the world and how it works. Together we will learn about activities and resources that will help us engage children with Science and spark discovery.
Caregivers, parents, and educators are all encouraged to join.
