Quarterly Newsletter

Today is a great day to be a Cougar! Where we are committed to Serve, Empower, and Transform our students. "We S.E.T. Students Up for Success!" On behalf of the Delcastle staff, I want to wish you and your family Happy Holidays. As we begin to embark on the winter season, it is important to highlight the number of days that the students will have off. Please make sure that you continue to communicate to your student the importance of finishing out the semester strong. Each Wednesday and Thursday we have started providing students with extra help in our new media center. Students have the opportunity to ride the 6:00pm bus when they stay for extra help.

This quarterly newsletter contains information about major activities that occurred during the first marking period. It also highlights achievements made by students and staff. As we progress through the year, we will communicate with you through our Quarterly Newsletter and Alert Now System when things come up that I feel are important to share with you. However, we ask that you check your email, Schoology and Delcastle’s Website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter accounts for updated information about the 2021-2022 school year. We will continue to provide the most up to date information, concerning the school year, as it becomes available:

Career & College Fair

On Monday, November 15, 2021, Delcastle had two organizations (Stand By Me & Del Tech) address the senior class. Afterward, the students attended a mini Career and College Fair. The students had an opportunity to talk to career, college, and military representatives. Kudos to the guidance department for putting the fair together. Delcastle’s Culinary Arts Career Area will be hosting “Bake the Night Away” on Friday, December 10. We invite our Delcastle Parents and other family members to come and assist. We will be honoring the Doctors, Nurses and frontline employees of Christiana Care for their commitment during this pandemic. If you would like to participate, contact Mr. Howell at or 302.494.1980.

Principals for the Day

On Wednesday, October 20th, Delcastle's Principals for the Day were Colleen Morrone, President, and Leah Coles, Vice President, of Goodwill of Delaware. They spent the entire day talking to students and staff in the academic and CTE classrooms. Ms. Morrone shared that she was extremely impressed by the high level of passion that she saw the CTE teachers demonstrate when working in the shop areas. She noted that she could see the students beginning to mirror the same level of passion. Ms. Cole could not believe all of the things that she saw our students doing throughout the day. At the conclusion of the day, we discussed potential hiring opportunities for our students with Mr. Boone. Special thanks to our staff and students for showing our Principals for the Day why Delcastle is a great place to learn and work!

Graduation 2022

We are excited to announce that the 2022 Commencement Exercises will be held indoors at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 1:30pm. Many of our families work in careers that make it difficult for them to be available in the evenings or on weekends. For those family members who do work during the day, we are communicating this change early to provide ample time to arrange time-off with their employers. On Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1 we will capitalize on asynchronous learning for students in grades 9-11, which will allow more teachers to participate in graduation and celebrate the accomplishments of our Class of 2022. We will, of course, continue to provide more details as we have them, but for now please mark the dates. We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2022 in, what we hope will be, a more traditional way. Please click the link for all-important Senior daes. Class of 2022 important dates.docx
