A Community Connection, September 2019
The Kids Are Back! And We Are Ready!
On one team's walk an older gentleman enthusiastically approached the group and shared that "all these teachers in the neighborhood" reminded him of when he was young. He shared that he was proud to be a part of the Riverside community.
It was as fun and beautiful and exciting as you can imagine. How lucky we are.

The Send-Off, by Sébastien Richer in Collaboration with Riverside Students & Art4Trails
This summer "The Send-Off" was installed in it's proper space across from the Civic Center, pointed toward Rochester Public Library. This was the sculpture that Riverside Students and our good friends at Art4Trails collaborated through origami art.
For many students, the project took on a whole life of its own. Several students shared their new skills with friends, siblings, family, the commissioner of education and in a few cases, they taught rooms full of hundreds of adults how to fold an origami Penguin.
This tiny post doesn't do justice to the number of incredible people who engaged and connected to these installations and to our students who made it all come alive.
Art4Trails has also been honored as the Mayor's Award for Public Art! This is a huge honor and we are thankful to partner with them for this worthy cause!
If you haven't seen it, check out our blog that documents the amazing twists and turns this project took, below.
This project made possible in part through funding from Greater Rochester Arts snd Cultural Trust.

Flu Vaccinations at School!
Our school has partnered with your child’s clinic to provide the flu vaccine at school this fall. This is a fast, easy, and convenient way to keep your children, our school, and our community healthy throughout the year.
There is a FIXED registration period this year. Registration is online at www.semnic.org now until September 11th at 11:00 p.m. Registration forms will not be accepted after September 11th. This means you must register your child during the registration window in order for your child to receive the flu shot when it is given at your school.

- Your health insurance will be billed just like it is in your clinic
- Your child can get the vaccine even if you don’t have insurance at little to no cost to you
