Greystone News
August 13, 2021
If you are new to Greystone this year or even if you were new last year and didn't have a chance to learn more about our school, please join us on August 18th for a newcomer's Coffee
greystone pta online spirit store is now open!
We know you are excited about being able to come volunteer at the school and eat lunch with your child. We are excited about this, too.
However, we are going to wait until sometime after Labor Day to allow parents to visit for lunch. We need time to get our students into a routine and want to evaluate the COVID situation in a few weeks. We will let you know when you will be able to come visit, eat lunch, and volunteer. We will have a limited number of volunteers schedule for some specific jobs. All volunteers wiil be required to wear a mask when working around children, such as helping with lunch.
Thanks for your constant help and support. This is going to be a great year!
transportation reminders
* If you would like your student to go home via a different mode of transportation one afternoon, please write a note indicating the change. Be sure to include the student's first and last name, the date and your signature on the note. The student should give the note to their teacher first thing in the morning. The teacher will then send the note to the front office. If you do not send a note for a transportation change, whatever you documented on the most current transportation form will be the mode of transportation used for your student.
If you forget to send a note the day of the change, and are in the area, you can drop off a note at the front desk before noon on the day a change is needed.
No email or phone calls for a transportation change will be accepted. If there is an emergency, you must call and speak to an administrator.
* Please review your student's carpool number with them (their number is what is on the carpool tag you were given). Please review the way it could be called out. For example, if the number is 132, we will call out one-three-two and one hundred thirty-two. Teaching them the different ways their number might be called is helpful. For carpool to flow smoothly, it is imperative that your child knows their carpool number.
* For afternoon carpool- Please have the carpool tag hanging from the rearview mirror the entire time you are in carpool, meaning from the time you enter the property until you have your student in the car. (If you are unable to hang the tag from your rearview mirror, please place the tag in a plainly visible area in the front windshield.) Also, once your car has loaded, please DO NOT pull around the other cars ahead of you unless directed to do so by one of the adults.
* If your student attends aftercare with the YMCA, park in the front parking lot and walk to the right side of the school to pick up your student. If your student is supposed to go to YMCA aftercare daily and you are picking your student up early, they will not be in the carpool line unless you sent in a note changing transportation for that day.
If you have any questions regarding afternoon carpool, please call Officer Katie at 205-439-3215 or Mrs. Jessica Todd/front desk 205-439-3200.
