Reminders on preparations for our Clubs
Ms. McCraw and the club committee have been working very hard to get our club list and descriptions ready for students to do their signup in the coming weeks. The opportunity for our students to participate in clubs during the day every other week during Miner Time is very special, and we want to be sure that we are making this well worth our students' time and yours. We will begin clubs in early October, around the same time that our students begin their remediation/enrichment groups.
Teachers sponsoring clubs do need to take this seriously. You need to plan carefully for club time, and it is your responsibility to plan activity for that time period every other week. This is like another class to plan for, but hopefully a fun and relaxing one! If you are out on club days, you do need to write sub plans for the club. Teachers must also take attendance on club day as we are always responsible for the safety and supervision of our students and knowing where they are. If kids are not going to clubs, it is the same as skipping class and students do need to be written up for that. If you have any questions about club logistics, please simply ask Ms. McCraw. Also, if students come to you asking to start a new club, they need to find a teacher sponsor and speak to Ms. McCraw, as well. All teachers do need to participate in clubs, and please keep in mind that many of our logistics depend on how many students sign up for particular clubs. If we have a club that has 3 teachers but only 10 students, we may need to ask some teachers to help with different clubs. Just please be flexible and open minded as we always try to keep our students first when we make these decisions. Thank you!

General Reminders
JEANS PASS for the week of September 11-15!
Help support the School Nurse program by donating $10 to the 13th annual Swing for the Kids Gold Tournament to benefit School Nurses across Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City. Our goal is to raise $200 to sponsor a hole so that CMS has a sign and is represented along with other schools in the county. Any donations are welcome! Please give your money to Nurse Lisa by the end of next week. Don’t let CMS be the only school without a sign at this important fund raiser!

Student Conduct Reminders
We will begin enforcing dress code and tardies on TUESDAY. Please send any class tardies and students who do not meet dress code expectations to Ms. Moore. Please also remember that Ms. Moore will not be in her classroom until 9am. When a student is assigned silent lunch by Ms. Moore, they will report to her for silent lunch. Ms. Moore will inform the teacher of the individual student if the child has silent lunch or community service.
Also, as we said many times during the opening staff workdays, it is essential that you set those high behavioral expectations NOW. If students are not meeting your expectations, CALL HOME. If you cannot find a working number, contact the grade level admin or counselor for assistance. Also, document any minors in Educator's Handbook. If you have any questions about Educator's Handbook, ask your grade level administrator. Set high expectations for our students, have individual conversations with students, and be sure to explain to students your expectations and consequences so students know what to expect!
