Happy long weekend Craddock families!

I hope this message finds you warm and enjoying a relaxing Saturday. I have one working today and my son and I are getting ready to turn on some football in a little bit. It's the perfect weather to be bundled up inside, unless you love to ski or snowboard!

We had a busy week at Craddock with winter benchmarking continuing and our fun Dairy Queen family event. Many thanks to Randy Monahan, who owns the Streetsboro DQ and his fabulous team! They were incredibly patient, kind and helpful as the Craddock staff invaded to serve delicious treats to Craddock families. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their evening to stop in! It took an incredible amount of patience and we were so grateful to have so many of you there. I am still waiting to see what kind of money will be kicked back to Craddock. I will share that when I know. Thank you again! I also would be remiss if I didn't send out a huge THANK YOU the staff members who attended. The kids loved seeing familiar faces! I had a cutie come up to me Thursday to tell me that I got her order wrong and after I apologized profusely, I had to chuckle. If she was the only one that got a wrong order, that would be a miracle! It was insanity for awhile! So much fun! Once again, thank you for coming!

Please keep a close eye on the weather and make sure to send your kids to school dressed accordingly. We take them out as much as we can, even in the cold and snow. Also, it's not a bad idea to have an extra set of clothes in your child's book bag either. These can be stored at school during the winter months, but it helps us get them back to class quickly if the clothes are available to make a quick change into.

Again, enjoy the long weekend. We look forward to seeing our adorable 1st and 2nd grade friends back on Tuesday, January 17th! Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns or feedback.

Greetings Families! Over the course of the year, I meet with students in small groups. These groups include students in first and second grades and can include as few as two students or as many as six. Beginning in January, I am starting a new group to focus on Changing Families. Students that may benefit from this group may have a change in their family including separation, divorce, or death of an immediate family member. This group will meet once weekly for twenty to twenty-five minutes for six to eight weeks. Group activities will focus on meeting peers in a similar situation, identifying the change, learning about adult v. kid responsibilities, naming adults that are their support system, reaffirming their identities, and problem-solving scenarios with the group members. I found the How-To articles super helpful because as a counselor and a parent, I know how I want my students and children to think of themselves, but am often refining the process in which I use to correct their thinking in a more positive way.
