Welcome New Staff to SHS

Mr. Erich Kendall

I am so happy to be back at my alma mater. When I left Southridge I went to Indiana State University. After graduating, I started teaching at North Clay Middle School in Brazil, Indiana from 2010 to 2015. I taught 6 choirs at the middle school, coached the JV High School Baseball Team at Northview HS, and was the percussion instructor at Northview. My wife (2nd grade teacher at Holland) and I have a crazy, almost two year-old boy named Russell. We are so excited to be back home!

Mrs. Sarah Bardwell

I'm excited to be part of the SHS staff and look forward to working with both the students and teachers as the media specialist. While most of my time is spent at the high school, I also travel to the middle school, Huntingburg Elementary, and Holland Elementary as the media director for the corporation. For the past 16 years I have been the media specialist at the elementary level, and for the past 8 years I was also the principal at Holland Elementary. My husband, Brett, and I live in Huntingburg with our two daughters, Ellie (8) and Laney (6).

Mrs. Amy Lyons

Amy Lyons has moved to a new post in the school corporation this year, taking on the role of Technology Integration Specialist. She is working with administration, teachers and staff in all school buildings to help integrate more technology into the curriculum and partnering with the IT team.

Mojo Up Assembly

On the first day of school all students attended an anti-bullying program, presented by Mr. Mojo. The program was a powerful, engaging session that motivated and inspired students to make a positive difference. The SHS staff plans to follow up by continuing to put an emphasis on anti-bullying through a curriculum used during homeroom.

From Mr. Younker...

The English 11 Honors, English 9 Honors and General American Literature students are busily reading two novels in preparation for their semester projects. They will be completing a comparative analysis of two pieces of literature. The first novel must be read by Septermber 17 and the second one by October 26. By these dates, each student will meet with Mr. Younker to prove the reading and discuss the final project which counts for half the final exam. All students are urged to use the reading periods, Tue-Thur, to complete their reading. The final project is due November 22nd, but may be turned in anytime before then.

Student Activity Fair

National Honor Society hosted the first annual Student Activity Fair August 14th and 17th. Each extracurricular activity was in charge of a table to promote their group, answer questions from potential members, and provide information (purpose, projects, dues, etc.). Thank you to all of the students and sponsors who volunteered their time to make the fair a success!

Media Center News...
